I won $100 gift card for answering a trivia question from one of the Jaguars local TV shows they have on Mondays after games. Then years ago, my dad won some tickets to a boxing match, I don't think any of the guys made it big, but it was like the guys ESPN has on friday nights.

I don't think you actually won that free hat.....the same free hat that got tossed under your bed then later brought out again so you could cut the grass wearing it.

Cool congrats.

Only one station did this where I grew up. Basically only HS and College girls ever won. The reason, the DJ used it as a means to find dates.

I know that, I was just kidding. I know everyone gets a free hat who buys the show. I've been getting one since MLB 2005. I would probably wear them if they didnt have the MLB The Show logo on them.

I won two tickets on a radio show once. It was a competition to see who could put together the best 30 second play-by-play clip of a goal where the two DJ's decided who won, they picked me and I got two upper bowl tickets to a hockey game.

I have never won anything like that, my wife on the other hand scored Counting Crows tickets at the House of Blues....along with a special "radio contest winners" only Q & A with the band preshow.

In between cell phones I spent about a year without one, the local station was giving away tickets to Michigan Notre Dame at Notre Dame, I can't remember the question but I was trying to drive as fast as possible home, because I knew the answer, I should have stopped at a pay phone, it took them about 10 minutes to get the right answer. I think the question was something like, last 100 yard rusher, receiver and 300 yard passer against Michigan. The question was about 5 years ago. Lake Dawson was one of the answers that's all I remember.

Once I heard a song at work that just played on the radio so I called the station to see who sang it. Little did I know it was the "song of the hour" or something like that.

The guy answered the phone "congratulations...you're the 7th caller...which station gives away prizes every day all day...?"

At that point I had no idea what was going on but thankfully remembered what station I had called so I blurted it out and they transfered me to the prize shop to pick my prize. I was on the radio a few minutes later sounding like a fool.

I got some tickets to a local game and a free pizza. Definitely one of those strange moments in life.

When I was in high school, I was an intern at the alternative rock station in Charlotte. Most hosts, when giving something away, would let me call in prior to the give away, give them a friend's name as the winner, and claim the prize myself. I'd do this for concert tickets and what not.

Well...in 1996, they got Lollapalooza tickets before you could buy them and they were giving them away. I wanted to go to this show really bad, so I called up one Saturday and asked the DJ if he could put my friend down as the winner of the next give away. He was reluctant because of the scarcity of these tickets, I understood, and hung up.

Well...when the actual give away happened on-air, he was looking for caller 10 and guess what...I was caller 10! Haha! Got my tickets anyway, damnit!

Great show, too. Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, The Ramones, Rancid, Soundgarden. I had an awesome time.
