You guys with thousands of songs...how do you do it? I try to think of songs I don't already have but want but never can come up with any. I think I have around 1000 songs and I honestly can't think of any more I want.

Maybe I just have a narrow preference in music or something.

I have 16 GB iPod touch and it's not near full...I have maybe 8 GB of music, and I could clean some of that out if I had to (we'd download stuff during parties in college, I'll be on "shuffle" and go "man, we musta been really drunk that night"). I guess I just am not quite as into music as a lot of people.

I have a lot of songs that I never actually listen to but still like to have them there in case I get bored with the same old stuff and want to listen to something new.

I only have about 600 songs. I don't download songs (I don't buy from Apple, either... they are just ruining the CD business), and only recently just started buying some new albums.

I'm just a big music head. Like I said, the CDs that I bought over the years (from the time I was about 12) comprise about 30 GB of the music that I have. The rest of it just comes from knowing a lot of bands and being really eclectic overall. I like everything from Charlie Parker to TOOL to Bun B, so it's easy to amass a collection. I'm not ever close to what I'd ideally like to have, I just don't have the discipline to keep digging for songs and downloading everything...

Also, (this is obvious), if you're downloading individual songs, then you'll definitely have a way smaller library. I always get full albums except in rare cases (compilations, etc.)...

Because almost all of my music is entire albums, so there are plenty of tracks I don't like but I still want to keep the complete album.

I got like 12000 songs. I don't know the vast majority of them, but it's cool to have, just for guests to be able to find almost any popular song they want (I have the top 100 billboard songs from the past 20 something years). I also spent a lot of my time freshman year just downloading every song anyone had in the dorm through this sharing network called OurTunes.

I have some super wack songs on my computer, though.

I'll leave my laptop on and somebody will start looking through my iTunes, "Why do you have every single Backstreet Boys song and album on your computer?" Then like clockwork somebody will turn on some BSB and have everybody in the house singing "I Want It That Way".

I'm not sure how it happens, but it does frequently. And I can't say I'm too proud of it.

I don't grab songs -- I grab entire albums from artists I like and from new artists that I discover. That causes the music to pile up quickly and also provides a nice variety of tunes.

I also have very eclectic taste in music -- enjoy rock, classic rock, hard rock, classic jazz, progressive house, trance, techno, Americana, gospel, pop. Basically everything but Nashville country, smooth jazz, rap/hip-hop and opera.

I just filled up a 250 external, mostly music, some TV shows, and am getting to work on the 500 external I picked up.

Yup that's what I do and I'm glad since sometimes I'll initially like just song on an album but some other song randomly plays one day and becomes one of my favorites.
