I'm happy i'm more into AF 1's than Jordans. I never have to deal with the mania of releases of the classic and rare colorways. Props to those that do though.

Though if foams weren't so ******* expensive i'd have an extensive collection outside of the OG's and Metallic Greens.

The hype just kills every release and kind of diminishes the "wow factor" that I used to have with Jordans. And even the quality nowadays is not as good as the versions released before them. Granted, these Bred 11's I heard are actually made of decent material but still... The "mania" that you speak of definitely turns me off sometimes.

I said a few pages ago that I'd be looking at Kobe's this year to add to my one or two pair collection and I think I will. Not only are they made of better quality, they're also easier to find and probably easier to buy. I'm looking to grab either the Invisibility Cloak 7's or Galaxy/Big Bang 7's (but for no more than $50-75 over retail).

I briefly tried to get the XI's online yesterday morning but no dice. Auctions going for well into the $400's.

They really need to do something about the way they go about releasing these things. Was just reading in the basketball forum that a couple people were shot in Houston over the shoes with at least one death. There is absolutely no excuse to do that over some funky *** shoes, but Nike has to start taking some responsibility for these situations. People are TRYING to give you $200 for shoes and can't. It makes no sense that if you don't buy something the DAY it releases you miss out on it. There should be a few months run for these shoes where if your store sells out or they're out on the websites, then you know there's going to be multiple, significant restocks as opposed to having to basically win the lottery to buy a pair of shoes.

If everyone were able to get their pair... Then kids wouldn't want them anymore. Part of the way Jordan sells shoes is through the hype and "significant restocks" would kill that hype. I think there's no way that Jordan brand will do that because it'll cost them $$$.

Are you kidding? People would still buy them. Jordan's are at a point now that there's really no way to kill how well they sell. It's not like they aren't going to still sell them for 200 dollars. If you put a shoe out for like a three month run in stores with significant restocks throughout that run, there's still hype for the things and you still sell a **** ton of shoes. People are getting shot for shoes it's ridiculous. That's not going to stop with the way we're presently going. Especially not as long as you continue to foster an environment where basically these shoes that are released once every few years or so are being released for a one day run. Maybe two if they do one restock.

I know of two websites that restocks them online: Nike Store and Finishline. I do agree with you that they should make the releases a little more fair so that everyone has a fair chance of getting theirs without risking their lives. But I also disagree with you thinking that if they released more of these shoes that it wouldn't kill the hype. Part of the reasons why everyone wants them is because they're "limited" and not everyone will have them. A hypebeast will think, "If everyone at school has these shoes, then why should I get them too?"

My point is, Jordans are still about a fashion statement for pretty much all of those kids. These little goofs have never even seen Jordan play. I know people that buy Jordans all the time and don't even watch basketball. Jordan has been engrained in culture as a fashion statement. People stand in line for hours for Call of Duty games or Halo and I'm pretty sure both of those will still be on store shelves two years after the release date. Even with a three month run like that, if you still limiting the colorways or models that you release to once every four years or something like that, there's more than enough hype for the shoe.

I agree it has become more of a fashion thing now days, but I have made it a point to teach my kids who Jordan was. How great and dominant of a player he was and how lucky i was to have seen him play. And thanks to DVD's, YouTube, and VHS tapes that I have converted to DVD my kids are getting to see Jordan play as well and can appreciate what they missed. Even the NBA 2K series has helped them appreciate the legacy that Michael Jordan built.

                              3 colourways so far:

                              1.) White and Black
2.) Black and White (picture above)
3.) Black and Red <-- this is the pair I will definitely get, and depending on the price point I may get the other 2!

Man, I remember I had finally talked my mom into letting me burn my money on an expensive pair of shoes and these were the ones I wanted to get. Unfortunately I could not get them to zip all the way up. I guess my arch was to high or something.
