Re: The ChrisS Severe Weather Thread
Quite frankly, yesterday I had a scary moment with Hydroplaning. I couldn't see anything and it turns out I had turned sideways on the highway and had just corrected myself when a semi came down the other lane. So a near miss, but I had zero time to think on it, had to fix the problem. As far as storms, no, never really. If you are smart you rarely have any trouble with danger. Lightning does sometime scare me, but that's natural I'd hope

Do you know any of the guys from "Storm Chasers?""It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The ChrisS Severe Weather Thread
Very wicked pictures. I'd love to go storm chasing, but with someone that knows what the hell they're doing. Since childhood storms have always amazed me. Growing up in central Alabama I got to witness some pretty wild weather. I'll never forget the freak Blizzard of 93. That storm sounded like a tornado, and had lots lighting in it.
I'll also never forget the F5 tornado that touched down in the Pleasant Grove- Oak Grove area in the spring of 98. Over 30 people were killed by that monster tornado. I was going to UAB at the time. Me, and a friend mine was walking into class early the morning of the storm, and I had a strange feeling come over me. The air had an electric feel to it, and I made a comment to him that something bad was going to happen that day. Later that night the tornado touched down west of Birmingham, and all hell broke loose.
I also got to experience Eric Rudolph's bomb when he attempted to blow up the abortion clinic while I was attending UAB. I was sitting in a friend's car not far from the site. We heard the explosion, and a strong wind buffeted his car. Those were some interesting days!Last edited by Coach Bryant; 03-04-2008, 01:27 PM."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment
