I wouldn't say it sucked, I was just bored out of my mind all the time. There was never anything to do, my friend who went out there too just kinda did his own thing and didn't call me after the first few days, and all I did was sit in my room. Didn't talk to my roommate because we had absolutely nothing in common and he was never there anyway, so basically I was by myself all the time. I'm not one to go up to people by myself, so meeting people wasn't too easy. Sitting there by myself also gave me a lot of time to think about how far away it really was. I knew it was 7 hours, but it felt much further. I realized that if something serious happened, I couldn't just drive back right away.

I liked the school itself, loved the campus, and if a few things went another way, I'd still be there. It just didn't work out. Luckily I only have to pay 10% of this semester, and I'm going to a PSU branch campus or the college in my town in the spring.

You have to get involved. Sign up for clubs and organizations and stuff. You can't just sit around and expect everything to happen. I'm really not an outgoing type of person but my roommates are, so I've been pretty lucky as they've gotten me to go out more. And going out more doesn't just mean going to a party and getting drunk. I've been here a week and haven't drank yet.

Did you go around and see the fraternity houses? That's a good way to meet a lot of people in a hurry.

I did but none of us remembered each others names after about 20 minutes.

You definitely have to get out and do things, that's what growing up and leaving the nest is all about. That's how you build your own life. Success isn't just about going to school and doing well, you also have to develop the social skills of an adult. There's a reason why nobody was around the dorm, they were seeking out the wealth of new experiences that were available.

I went to a frat party last night...awesome. I'm a little peeved that I didn't get laid, but I did go to boob town.

I came home this morning, and I'll be going back tomorrow night. I just had to get some extra stuff that I left behind, and I kinda missed my cat and my parents.

I'm very pissed off that my sister bought a dog, and that my parents (well, my mom) allowed her to do it. I love dogs, but I do not want any animals in my house other than my cat. I am a one-dog kind of guy, and she died last year. It pisses me off that my mom is willing to replace her. It pisses me off even more that me and my dad had no say in the matter.

Wonderful. I now find out my brother went MIA in Iraq for four days. His helicopter had mechanical problems, and he had to make an emergency landing behind enemy lines. The Army wouldn't even inform my family if he was okay or not. They just said he was MIA, even though they knew where he was because they were repairing the aircraft. He isn't even able to tell us what actually happened.

After all that whining you get what you want and then you complain some more. It would be hilarious if your mom kicked you out.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

JJLinn I hope you've paid most of your tuition and such because if not then you'll be paying for a looong time to come.

Hopefully you can find a school or a job near you in the near future.

                          ****, seriously...

Went to a party with a few of my friends last night. We were one of the first people there so we walked in and met all the people who lived there. Then went out onto the porch, cracked a beer, smoked a bowl, and within ten minutes I had no idea what their names were anymore.

                          Oh well.

Which is why you keep going out. Then once you've done that awhile, everyone will remember names, and what do you know, you have friends.
