First, Double Eights did you not try to look into finding a lawyer who works for the ACLU like I recommended? If not, I still recommend you find a lawyer of any kind. Most judges don't like it when someone tries to go at it alone and take the kind of tactics that you seem to be taking. In fact, most would find your attitude a bit offensive. IMO though i'm actually proud. It's nice to see someone trying to do what they can to defend themselves but sometimes being conventional is just as good.

Cubsfan when I was in my teen years I had depression. It was pretty crappy and was a complete downer. I had to take paxil for about a year or so and went to a shrink for about 6 months. Luckily my bout with depression passed relatively quickly but there are times when it comes back. Mostly when i'm depressed i'd have suicidal thoughts, be very tired and stare blankly for hours on end.

It's not an experience i'd wish on anyone.

I went to WebMD and they had a little quiz to see if you're at risk for it. I answered yes to I think 6 of the 10 questions, so I'm not sure where to go from here. I've never really had any suicidal thoughts, and to be honest I don't have any reason to be depressed.

My main concern was that I have been having problems sleeping, concentrating, and kind of having a lost feeling. Like I'll sit there and stare into space for a long time for no reason. I remember a while back a doctor might have thought I was anemic or something like that, but a recent blood test said I was perfectly fine. The only thing I don't understand about the possibility of depression is that I don't really have headaches, muscle pain, or any of that.

At times its kinda hard to tell if you have depression. It took a month or two for me to realize I had depression. I got around to realizing that I wasn't hanging out with friends as much. I stayed online and only talked to certain people and that's all I would do all night. Sometimes I'd flip out and go for drives at like 4 AM just to clear my mind. And then my sleeping pattern got all messed up. Once I started wanting to kill myself, I stepped back and said "Wait, this isn't me, I should get some help"

That's the point of depression. If it's over something rational, it's not depression, at least in the "I need to be treated" sense.

Have you tried eating/drinking better, exercising, and setting a regular sleep/wake up times with absolutely no naps, and if you do, stop drinking/using drugs? Obviously those things sound simple and you may do them, but they tend to be big for me, especially in the winter.

Depression sucks. I still deal with it. I really have no reason to be depressed life is really good for me, but I am still depressed. I been taking medicine called Remeron. It does really work. It is a chemical imbalance for me. It might be the same for you. The only thing is when you start taking meds make sure you surround yourself with love ones. I had a friend struggle with depression and when he started taking meds he had energy and ended up taking his on life. It actually happens a lot. When you are depress you are not strong enough to take your life. It is when you start taking the meds you then have the strength. Go to a Dr. and see what they say.

One thing that is great for depression is sun light there is somthing is the sunlight that helps the body. I can't rememebr what it is. My mind is toast right now. I think it is call saraphine. I know I spelled it wrong, but that is how it is sounds.

Serotonin? It's also noted in antidepressants... It's more of a secondary thing though, meaning the sunlight causes the body to synthesize serotonin, not that there's serotonin in the sunlight.

My diet is fine, and all I have drank for the past year or two is water. I work out usually 5 or 6 days a week, and have stopped taking naps since I got out of high school.

I'll probably try to work up the courage and go see a doctor sometime in the near future if things don't change. That'll be the hard part probably, which I assume is normal. Just out of curiosity for those of you that have gone through it, what exactly do they do if you DO have it? Just give some pills?

By the way thanks to everyone that's posted. I'm just really wanting to get back to my old self before it starts really affecting my relationship and things like that.

My advice is to go do things you like to do. And try to spend less time on the computer. Go outside more. Even if it is just to Bestbuy. Or a place you like to go to. Make yourself do it.

I'll keep that in mind, I have been spending WAY too much time on the computer since finals are over.

One more question I had, is it possible to get rid of depression without taking meds and seeing a doctor? Or is that the only hope to get rid of it?

That is tough to answer. Some say it is, but if it is chemical it will be tougher without meds. My advice is to go outside and spend less time on the computer. Also, do things you like to do for awhile even if you don't have the time to or you should be doing something else.

I beat depression after I stopped taking meds/seeing a doctor despite having a chemical imbalance. my dads side of the family has depression and I unfortunately got it. Without the meds I keep busy but I still get depressed for no reason. It's not constant but it randomly shows up despite having a good week/day
