Sorry, had to fix your post to keep it going.

And it's just something people try to do to lighten things up, especially in work meetings. My dad always tells me about stories like that (people surprised someone talked, people joking about someone's habit, etc) where people think it's funny and is a good ice breaker.

I'm not sure it's and ice breaker, people just think any1 should be like them. If your not like them (and you're new) then something is wrong with u. Unfortunately they'll get the opposite of what they're trying to do. I really don't care, when I met a new employee in the past and he didn't talk much even after 3-4 months - that's fine with me. Who am I to tell him how much he should speak?!

They're nice but they don't come in my size or I just haven't found them. I bought a pack of them though but since they're smaller they usually end up slipping off.

Mine disappear too. Sometimes I use them for shoes in the backyard and if they get a small hole from wear-my Wife (a.k.a sock inspector)-chucks em' in the trash.

Well, I'll contribute something to your sock discussion: I used to (and still) wear my sports socks (while wearing shorts and sneakers) folded. I mean, even if the socks have some illustation or something, I fold it twice inside and at the end it's about 5 inches above the shoe, white blank. I started doing that in 1990 or 1991 to copy Michael Jordan because he used to wear his socks like that, or so I thought.

Gold toe socks are my favorite. I have about 40 pairs...conservative guess.

Good to know Under Armour is the preferred socks of benchwarmers.

I despise ankle socks. Gotta go with calf-high socks (crew?). I like the look, especially with sagging shorts.

Crew socks- Classic and comfortable. And just by glancing over the sock talk discussion-It looks pretty close as for crew vs ankle socks.
Also one vote for just loving the socks(courtesy of Longhorn) and one vote for knee socks.

Gotta go with crew. But I usually wear jeans so you don't ever see my socks. If I wear shorts then I wear my shorter socks. Not ankle ones. The ones that fit comfortably over the ankle and aren't as long as crew socks.

I hate ankle socks. Can never find my size and when I do buy them they always roll down causing discomfort when I walk. Crew socks don't sag if you don't stretch them and I never have to worry about them.

As for the missing socks, this is a mystery as old as time - or at least since the invention of socks. Socks go missing. It's nature. There is no explanation.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Perhaps there is a phantom zone for socks somewhere. If so, my contribution would be noteworthy.
