Re: OS Off Topic
I doubt it gets that high but, who knows. You better start picturing yourself paying $4 though, because you will be soon, if you aren't already.Comment

Its getting there, luckily Sams club still has decent pricing for the gas, it was $3.71 when i pumped gas Friday. I try not to use my truck as much on the weekends, thats really when i put in the mileage.XBL: DTX3

Alright, another question for those who have already went through college and the student loan process:
Is $11,700 a lot of money to take out for a private loan? My financial aid package was like $12,000 (including $3,500 Stafford loan), which leaves like $11,700 not accounted for. Do you think that's too much?Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

The federal loans are super low interest (under 3% and locked in) so not a huge deal. My payment is about $150 a month over 15 years.
The private loans however don't have a fixed interest rate. They were fairly low when I graduated (around 5%) but steadily went up to over 10%, raising my monthly payment to over $450 just for the private loans. Interest rates have come back down some, and my payment is down to $350 a month but it's still quite a bit.
I would strongly advise against taking that much in private loans if you're not going into a field where you can afford to pay a large monthly payment. My payment right now is around $500 a month, the lowest it's been since I graduated. Add that onto $600 in rent, $300 car payment, etc, etc and it severely limits your flexibility after college when you are ready to buy a house, new car, etc.Comment
