Re: Well, my 19 year streak is over.
And that kind of sucks now because this incident has changed my thought process. I don't know if it's just for now, or if I'll continue from here on out, but you HAVE to judge people. If your intuition tells you that something is up, follow it. Don't give anyone the benefit of the doubt because you can never know what someone is about to do. If you can cross the street or go the other way then do it. Maybe they weren't going to do anything anyway, but if they were, you've avoided it. I didn't get hurt this time, but what if the cops didn't come? Lord knows what these people had on them or what they would've done.
It really does suck to live life this way. Judging people and making sure your walking on the "safe" street. I know this probably won't stick with me forever, and is far from a "life-changing" event, but it just makes you think about people in a different way, at least to me.
Nope.
That reminds me of a quote from "Inside Man" - "I would rather end up an old bigot, than a handsome young corpse!"Comment

Re: Well, my 19 year streak is over.
There wasn't a lot of people but there was enough for someone else to notice.
The weird thing is that when I walked past these guys I actually noticed them looking at me. At first I thought he was looking at the girl who just walked by me but as I continued to walk past him I saw his head begin to turn in my direction.
One thing I've always been taught is not to judge people. Whenever I walk past someone no matter how sketchy, or up to no good they look, I'll never assume I know what they're next action is going to be because that just isn't fair. You have no idea what they're going through, how their day was, or what got them there. I walk by and interact with different people the same way, regardless of appearance.

I am the same, but the opposite of you, when i walk out in public, I assume everyone, even 85 year old women are criminals.Comment

Re: Well, my 19 year streak is over.
I got frauded when i saw an ad on Kijiji where people were selling a PS3. I should've known when they didn't want to meet in a neutral ground, but I wasn't afraid as it was 12 pm in a beautiful tuesday afternoon.
I was talking to one guy on the phone while his two other friends were keeping an eye on me(didn't know this at the time). I had seen those two guys in front of the apartment and thought they had nothing to do with the guy I was talking to who was selling the PS3. So he just told me to wait on the side of the apartment and just hang in front of the garage. Again, this is in broad daylight with a lot of people on the streets. Well as I walked up to the garage, I saw those two guys again and I know right there it was a hoax. They cornered me, I got hit in the head with a two by four and got sprayed water in the eye. Luckily for me I was able to run away (they held on to my shirt, but I'm a big guy so I got away preety easy. They ran after me until I got out of the garage, then they disappeared) without losing the 400 dollars cash or my ipod, but I did lose my ****ty phone. I did have a preety bad gash on the back of my head. I could've taken them on, but I didn't want to risk losing 400 bucks and my Ipod.
Just pure idiocy on my part and I should've known better. Anyways, people like that are such losers and I hope they die and lose their limbs. Instead of going to school or at the very least getting a job, they resort to thuggery, it's a joke.
I'm happy you were able to go unharmed and not lose any valuables.Last edited by Vince; 04-04-2008, 09:11 AM.Comment

Anyway, I'd say your streak didn't really end. You didn't lose anything but a pen. I'd say your streak almost ended.Comment

Re: Well, my 19 year streak is over.
I know people say don't judge but it's tough when **** like this happens. Let's just say I'm always weary of the people that are around me. You never know what people are thinking these days and they'll kill and/or harm you these days for basically nothing. Good to see you got out of there unscathed."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

I suppose we could just put them in slave labor camps, but the 8th and 13th Amendments sort of get in the way of that.Comment
