According to my criminology professor, housing laws that dictate where sex offenders can and cannot live leads to congregations of sex offenders and a higher recidivism rate. She also said that sex offenders have one of the lower recidivism rates among criminals.

Granted, reoffending when you are ruining someone's life is a little different than knocking off a house or selling a little cane, but I was surprised that she said that. It's the old halfway house conundrum; you want them to get better, just as long as it's not anywhere near me.

Also, given that they're missing a few newer schools around me, I'd question the age of the information in that site. Not that it's not alarming, but I wouldn't go burning down a house based on that info.

According to that I've got two guys that work about 2 blocks away from my house. One was convicted of child porn, and one was convicted of sexual assault.

Looks like there are quite a few in my general area, but really not as many as I would have suspected.

Only one about a mile from my home, but there are a few around that area.

It's funny... there are two rapist neighbors as well. I mean it's not funny, but you know.

We have none in my neighborhood it looks. We have one in our adjacent neighborhood, but that's it. Being out in the suburbs there doesn't seems to be many, but once you get into the cities of High Point and Greensboro, they are all over the place.

That said, there are 134 offenders in my area, though 95% of those are in the city, where I don't live and really don't go to very often either. Plus, my area is pretty densely populated, so there are a lot of people.

There appears to be about 4 in the surrounding area, but a whole crapload by my parents house. These freaking guys/girls shouldn't be let back out on the street is all I'm going to say.

At least this thing shows the actual crime rather than just showing dots without explanation.

For some reason I can't see my street anywhere even though all the surrounding areas are there, there aren't too many people but a few who have a pretty long list of crimes.

I have a 17 year old niece that meet up with a 35 year old dude on myspace, and in georgia (witch is now legal) they are living together. I'm about ready to beat his ***. I looked at this site find out if hes an offender or not, but I guess not. I'm about to go to jail because if I meet up with him face to face, I'm gonna kill this MO FO.

Oof. But I live a little bit from the city, where there's tons. Seriously, that area is basically a rainbow with how many colorful dots there are on it. Sad.

On a side note, my girlfriend's older brother is on a sex offender's list. He had sex with someone like 3 years younger then him when he was around 18 or 19. Don't know all the details, but apparently he's not some terrible human being. Just should've been a lot more careful. I wonder how many of these people are in situations like his and just made mistakes instead of are like serious rapists, child molesters, etc.

Damn there is one right down the street with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a minor under 14. That is the broader offense for statutory rape in Massachusetts, delightful to this guy like children. How cute, a recent conviction in April 2007, and he's apparently out.

Wow this is scary as hell. A man with 4 different offenses stemming from Indecent A&B on a child under 14 and Rape and Abuse of a Child lives across the street from the High School. Delightful................I seriously thought that was illegal in Massachusetts to be honest, given that I hope when you have a Rape and Abuse of a Child charge in the past 4 years that you would at least be on probation.
