It's a rec league no matter how you cut it, you're gonna have terrible refs. I highly doubt the rules state no swearing either but if they do I would find another league. I can't play ball without swearing when it's against competitive talent, it's too intense not to.

What I want to know is why he waited two minutes to throw you out?

It's odd. It's like he just wanted to prove a point.

Sounds like the rule of the league is no cussing. Not cussing AND threatning another player, just one of them. You cussed. You got tossed. Sounds like the ref was just enforcing the rules.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I think he didn't want to stop the game. He wanted to wait till a dead ball.

Question: Are other people cussing ever during a game, or was your swearing the only time it happened?

If you were the only one, and that's the rule, then it's pretty clear.

In general though, it's not a good idea to drop F-bombs that loudly....sometimes I'll be pissed at myself at whatever sport I'm playing, but I more talk to myself than yell and make a big spectacle.

Like in tennis, you can be mad at yourself but you don't have to blow up and go all McEnroe.

I mean they were cussing but quietly, not just blurting it out if you know what i mean. Its basketball.

I think different people just handle things differently. As long as you're not hurting someone I have no problem with the loud f-bombs.

I rather see that in a teammate than nothing at all.

And while I understand the whole fear that a child may hear you argument, I don't see why someone should hold back their anger just because they worry a kid's innocent ears will hear them.

You're no longer playing competitive sport if you're concerned about the people watching.
