Did the cops do right? No.
Did the thugs do right? No.
Most of the police officers should be removed from the force. It was excessive and wrong. However, I don't feel sorry for the pieces of **** that it happened too. I just don't want to condone uncontrolled justice. If one of the three suspects even made a slight menacing gesture at the cops though, it would have been grounds to kill him on the spot.
Also for the people bringing up the Bell case as a bad minority relations case... has no merit in this discussion.NCAA Vets League: Arkansas Razorbacks (9-2, 6-1)

Re: Cop beatdown in Philly....
Well I'm going to be quiet. I am pretty biased, my brother is a police officer and I know what he goes through on the street. I am sorry for my reply, even though I believe it, I should not have just blurted it out.No, I agree with you in this aspect. I just don't see how encouraging them to act this way on the job would solve anything.
It will just open up the opportunity for officers to take the law into their own hands. They are there to uphold the law but not take justice into their own hands.
That's why we have superhero movies.
They do what most of us wish we could in our society.I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

Re: Cop beatdown in Philly....
I know what you mean man, trust me. There's been times I've just wanted to rip someone a new one out on the streets for the way they acted but you just can't do it. Being a Police Officer, you HAVE to contain your emotions and act with sense and act accordingly....don't put yourself or your department in jeopardy and not to stoop to the levels of all the idiots out there.
I understand why the officers did what they did but it's not really excusable at all...I just know what they were going through and I can relate to it so I can understand it but it's still not right.
Things like this and the way you're treated is what makes the job hard but it's the greatest job on the planet...wouldn't trade it for anything.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

Re: Cop beatdown in Philly....
The guys didn't even have anything to do with the shooting according to the Philadelphia police so no one knows what brought this on.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Philly police to fire 4 over videotaped beating By MARYCLAIRE DALE, Associated Press Writer
35 minutes ago
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's police commissioner said Monday that four officers will be fired and four others disciplined for their roles in the beatings of three shooting suspects, an encounter that was captured on videotape and drew widespread outrage.
Another eight officers who had physical contact with the suspects will undergo additional training on the department's policies concerning the use of force, Commissioner Charles Ramsey said. He said the police department made the disciplinary decisions after reviewing frames from enhanced tape of a video shot by a television news helicopter on May 5.
The video, shot by WTXF-TV, shows the suspects being pulled from their car on the side of the road and groups of officers kicking, punching and beating the men. A total of 19 officers — 18 city police and one transit officer — were involved.
Two of the officers being fired are relatively new to the force and can be terminated immediately, Ramsey said. Two others are being suspended without pay for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
Three other officers are being suspended and one sergeant is being demoted. A criminal investigation is continuing.
Police said they had been pursuing the car in connection with a triple shooting. The three men — Brian Hall, 23, Pete Hopkins, 19, and Dwayne Dyches, 24, all of Philadelphia — have been charged with attempted murder and related counts stemming from the shooting. Their attorneys have said they had nothing to do with it.
One of Dyches' attorneys said he suffered a welt on his head the size of a baseball and that one of his legs was seriously injured.
All three of the shooting suspects are black. Ramsey has denied allegations that the beatings were racially motivated and said at least one officer involved is black.
The beating occurred at the same time police were conducting an intense manhunt for a suspect in the slaying two days earlier of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, but Ramsey said Monday that there was no indication that any of the officers thought the suspect was among the three men in the car.Comment

Re: Cop beatdown in Philly....
Wow they're actually being held accountable. I don't know why the story keeps changing. I heard on CNN that the police said that the men had nothing to do with the shooting.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. As much as those criminals did wrong there's never any need to stoop down to their level. The extent to which the police officers went left the high ups no other choice. This is just my opinion.Comment

Re: Cop beatdown in Philly....
Umm, yeah, no racial overtones in your post whatsoever.exactly
...
honestly, i don't have a problem with it.
i'm so sick and tired of crooks and gangs/gang members it's ridiculous. white, black, hispanic, asian, it doesn't matter so don't think i'm turning this into a racial thing. and speaking of that, i think one of the things that annoys me as much as anything is (espcially) african american people complaining that this always happens to african americans and that the jails are full of african americans and blah blah blah... well, that's because most of the crimes in our country and committed by african americans, simple as that. but back on track with this video.. i'm tired of these crooks/gang members/bad guys that break all these laws and then when they see the cops on their tail they take off (on foot or in car) and then when the cops finally catch up with them they try and act all defenseless and just lay down on the ground like big babies. you don't run if you're innocent. period. that just pisses me off.. and why should police care if this affects their reputation? i mean, you think most people in these areas respect the police? no. and that's not because of stuff like this, if this didn't happen people still wouldn't respect the police. you have all these people (and again it's often gang members and/or african americans or hispanics) that try and break all these laws behind cops backs, talk about how bad cops are for this world, try to start fights with cops, spit on cops, call the cops every name in the book, and if they get the chance they'll try and kill the cop(s) from time to time. i'm often surprised when you see those COPS videos that the cops are as patient as they are. Over half the time it seems like the person being arrested is spitting on the cop, calling the cop every name they can think of, trying to bite/kick/punch (aka. resisting arrest) toward the cop... yeah that would piss me off too. They break all these laws and then wonder why they're being arrested and if they're a person of color (whites may do it but i've never seen one) they always have that "race card" waiting right there to pull it at their earliest convenience. So I know people won't like this post and it may get deleted but I'm speaking my mind because I'm just sick and tired with the people/trends of today doing this kind of stuff. To prevent confusion, since I don't think I've clarified, I do not agree or condone what the cops did, but I do not have a major problem with it.
