    Starting my internship Monday

    I'm moving to Harrisburg, PA from (around) Pittsburgh, PA today (a 3 or 4 hour drive) for my internship at the State Capital Building. I'm living with my uncle, who got me the job, so living costs are basically zero... he just expects me to do some yard work and little projects around the house and his cabin, both of which I have absolutely NO problem with... I mean, he got me the job and is letting me live with him for free--a little yard work never hurt anyone.

    I'm working in some communications department at the PA Senate. It's a shirt and tie deal most of the time, so I'm kind of looking forward to that. In fact, I'm looking forward to the whole ordeal: get experience, learn from experienced people, meet new people, get out of my hometown (it's been a rough last 6 months for me).


    Anyone have any good internship stories or anything to share?

          hahaha... you want to hook me up? I put basically ZERO effort into getting the internship in Harrisburg. I sent an e-mail to a guy my uncle told me to contact asking if he had any paid internships available. All I got back was "Geno, you're hired."

          And it's not like I'm a polisci major or anything like that. I'm a journalism major, just doing something to get out of my hometown, get a little experience, and have something to put on my resume.

              I've worked for both Davidson and ECU for my internships. Saw Davidson bust out last year with Stephen Curry, and went to Hawaii for ECU's bowl game when they beat Boise St. I got some great experience to put on my resume as I'm currently sending them out for a new job.

              I got paid like $200 a month, and live off credit cards, but it'll pay off in the end.

                          Good luck! it will be tons of fun. I did one in DC with a Senator a few years ago and had a great time, its kind of cool talking to people and writing letters and working on press releases that end up on the news.

                              I did my internship for Apple Computers in the early 90's. Lots of fun, and if you were a techno nerd like me, got to play with some pretty fun stuff. Also where I learned about NDA's.

                              Very fun, they had a bunch of interns, including some nice looking girls from Ireland that I got to know pretty well.

                                  How old are you? College? What will they pay you? What will your duties be if you know them? Just curious-maybe a little nosy.
