Going to The Biltmore
My girlfriend and I are going to The Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina at the end of July (been wanting to since December). We got a package from a hotel with passes and audio tour books. Anyway, I was wondering, for those of you who have gone, what are some fun activities to do there? Also, how long is roof-top tour?

Re: Going to The Biltmore
My wife and I went last year. The house is amazing. The gardens are beautiful. We didn't spend much time in them as it was over 100% when we went and after the tour of the house which has no a/c I just could not stay too long. We didn't do the roof tour but the view must be great. When you take the tour, just take your time and enjoy each room in the main house. -

Re: Going to The Biltmore
My wife and I have been twice. Definitely do the audio book tour, that is better than just walking around by yourselves. We did not do the roof top tour but I'm sure that is cool as well. Definitely visit the garden which is on the left side of the house (while looking at the front) and go to the winery as well. You should have a great time, we loved it. My favorite rooms were the man room (place with the pool tables) and the indoor pool.Comment

Re: Going to The Biltmore
Yeah, highest priority for my girlfriend is to tour the gardens while we're there. I think she found some kind of activity they do every day with the winery that she wants to do.

Re: Going to The Biltmore
So, me and my girlfriend went to the estate at the end of July. We were both definitely impressed, not only with the house and the gardens, but with the history behind the house as well. The winery was very cool and we brought back a couple bottles.
We really want to come back at least once during the winter to see the estate decorated for Christmas.

Re: Going to The Biltmore
My cousin lives and works in Asheville (not at the Biltmore though). He's been to a couple parties there.
Oh, I suppose that wasn't all that helpful, was it.
Sorry.

Re: Going to The Biltmore
I went there a few weeks ago. It was fun. We went and looked at the gardens first, then toured the house. Afterwards, you can eat or go to theses gift shops. Then, on your way out they have the winery and the farm, both of which I would advise you stopping at.
It was a nice experience overall. I recommend going if you live within four hours of it. It really is a BIG house!Comment

Re: Going to The Biltmore
Bump.
Planning another trip with the current girlfriend. We're going down Friday night and visiting the house Saturday.
Now, the plan is to stay an extra day instead of making the 5-6 hour trip back home Saturday night.
What are some cool things to do in Asheville?
I think we're both keen on doing the ghost tour Saturday night, but not sure what to do Sunday. I know the Parkway is close, but I wasn't sure if there were any "must see" attractions.

Re: Going to The Biltmore
Last year my wife and I took a trip and passed through Asheville. We are deciding between going there or Charleston for a long weekend in June.
When we passed throught we ate brunch at tupelo honey cafe.. Highly recommended- I think it started in Asheville and they have expanded to a few other southern towns."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams
