Re: Being unemployed really sucks
I've gotten one interview from Careerbuilder but didn't get the job. I've been unemployed since February.
I'd used Careerbuilder to get a few interviews right after I finished college five years ago. Never had any success with Monster. Like was already mentioned all I ever get from either of those sites are mostly sales jobs.Comment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
I saw police officers wanted on craigslist. The rest is history.
It's not a bad job at all man. I get paid a decent amount, have plenty opportunities to make extra money working off duty jobs, and you get free food all the time.
I'm not ballin' by any means, but in May/June I'm making $4,500 extra on top of my salary due to off duty. I could see myself making an additional $15,000/yr working off duty.Comment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
I feel very fortunate to have my job. It is horrible to be a young citizen in this kind of economy. Our ancestors really screwed stuff up for us.
I'm gonna be a bit of a hippy here.
This country and this world has population issues. It's not just the fact people are popping out babies left and right...It's the quality of the children. In no way shape or form is it repairable it's just gonna get worse. Almost every girl I know has popped out a baby and is unemployed...Which means those kids will never go to college. Sure we could survive by expanding new business, but it simply wont happen because our youth are close to ********. We need to have a one child law...Because the family trees are just getting bigger and bigger. Sadly the best thing to happen is some sort of global plague.
The human race is considered the smartest species on earth, but we are the only ones destroying ourselves and this planet. I feel bad for people who try their absolute hardest to get by, because at the end...If you are not a lazy piece of trash living off the government there is a good chance you may be homeless.Last edited by ProjectRipCity; 06-16-2010, 10:16 AM.Comment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
I don't know if you were exaggerating or not, but while I do agree that there are too many babies being popped out, I totally disagree with this "one child law." I don't know what I'd do without my siblings, and that's something that should not be regulated by enforcing punishment. Also, I know it's damn near impossible for a kid born in poverty to make it, but when they do...they are usually the most equipped and best qualified, so I feel like they should be given a chance instead of giving up on them before they are born.I feel very fortunate to have my job. It is horrible to be a young citizen in this kind of economy. Our ancestors really screwed stuff up for us.

And it's not even about them not being able to go to college. I got a Bachelor's Degree and I haven't been able to find a nice and steady job since I graduated 6 years ago. I haven't been unemployed for 6 years, but I've had multiple jobs and I am currently back on the job hunt.Last edited by Po Pimp; 06-16-2010, 10:52 AM.Comment

We have to apply to get drivers licenses... I think we should have to apply to have kids as it is a much bigger responsibility then driving. To me, it seems like the people who shouldn't be having kids are having more and the people who should be having kids are having less if any.I feel very fortunate to have my job. Religion & the rights acitivists are too strong of an influence & no politician/lawmaker would ever go against such a strong majority.
On topic---good luck OP. Work hard and try to move upComment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
Totally different scenarios. Do you think neanderthals or primitive people felt like it was such a responsibility to have children? It's a simple matter of biology whereas automobiles are man made. I do agree the population should be controlled, but it shouldn't be left in the hands of the government. We have to apply to get drivers licenses... Re: Being unemployed really sucks
My last 3 gigs were temporary assignments. Temp was the operative word though because the first one was a proofreading assignment that lasted 3 projects, then the other two were clerical work that lasted 1 month and 2 weeks respectively. I think my resume needs a major overhaul, as I haven't changed the format of it since 2005 (though I have updated it).Comment
