    Harley-Davidson = Sellouts.

American pride my you know what.

Outsourcing jackasses is more like it.

I called in today, to pay my loan through them off and wow! I can't believe the hassle I went through. I am a very laid back, easy going kind of guy. However, today tested me. I mean for some odd reason it just made my blood boil. Before I go any further, I don't want to make this sound racist, but I need to say that the next time I call anywhere and an American doesn't answer the phone, I'm done.

I called in over an hour ago to pay off the last remaining balance on my Harley. Simple enough. I've made payments over the phone before and it's cake. Not today. The call was obviously outsourced to India. Well long story short. After 20 frustrating as could be minutes I finally hung up and called back.

I could not understand a single word the guy was saying. I've had people that were hard to understand before, but this guy was tops. He didn't even seem to know what he was doing, just repeating everything. I remained patient and never got rude, but I was ready to snap. Then I called back and must have gotten his sister. It took me over an hour of my time to do something that take 3-8 minutes max.

I tried my best, but wow. I just couldn't understand a word they said. Not only that, they honest to God did not seem competent enough to be doing their job. THAT was the biggest issue. They just repeat everything and run around in circles.

When I thought it was finally over I had to talk to someone about getting the title for it. I'm guessing it was their cousin...

Anyways, thanks HD! Great to see you helping the American economy by giving back to them. Really appreciate it!

Next time I'll buy a Yamaha and know what to expect.

Sadly this is what the world is coming to in business. John Deere has sold out as well. They buy their steel from Germany and even have a big plant in Brazil.

It's all about money anymore. Even if it means selling out.

For real? I've never had to call JD, but now I know it's bad when what I thought were the two most "proud" companies I can think of are selling out.

I hate to be a jerk, but I am never going through that frustration again.

I think most Ford trucks are built in Canada and Mexico. I wonder if "This is Our Country" Chevy trucks are built here?

I know lots of Toyotas are.

Nothing is "American Made" anymore, they maybe assembled here in America but it's with foreign materials. I talked with a guy about trucks and he said he wouldn't buy a Toyota cause "the money would go over there" meaning Japan. I find that funny cause Toyota trucks are built in America by American workers. The Toyota Tundra is built in San Antonio Texas and Gibson County Indiana. The Tacoma is built in Fremont California.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Sheesh you guys sound like a bunch of xenophobic nutjobs. I'm not being completely serious but it's just how you come across.

Anyways as someone mentioned the last time something was completely American Made was when Reagan was in his first administration.

I'm not complaining about where the products are made at. If Japan is making better trucks than so be it. It's the quality of help these "American" businesses are employing. Like I said, I couldn't have helped myself if I had wanted to today.

The biggest issue is that these companies are biting the hand that feeds them. They take jobs from the American public and just outsource them to India. Whoever had those jobs before now are now doing what?

That's true but it's all economics. Sadly the people they hire outside of the country (except for the Canadians that help build trucks) work for far less and without medical benefits. Any business looking at the bottom line would be silly not to go in that direction.

Of course. I know they wouldn't do it if there wasn't a benefit for it, but it's just a shame. Look at the quality...

That's like saying that we as consumers don't need good quality from their product. They're giving us a big F U and saying "Oh hey, good luck making your payment today. I'm sure someone sometime will be able to assist you properly. It's only your time our of your day. May as well take an hour or more to do something that normally takes only a few minutes. Thanks for choosing Harley-Davidson though!"

Makes me sick man. I have a feeling outsourcing is only got to get more and more popular in the next few years. I won't be able to go through a drive through anymore. The person on the mic will be from North Korea or something.

I understand fully and I don't like it either. Thankfully outsourcing hasn't really hit Canada that hard but some businesses up here do it.

This is the unintended consequence of Globalism.

There is a huge Ford truck plant in Louisville, KY, so not all of them are.

Sadly it won't be long. Dedicated "order centers" are already being used by various businesses that make use of drive throughs. At some point they too will tell the customer to go **** itself and they'll outsource as well.

Almost all Weber Grills are still manufactured in the states, and all their customer service people are based in Illinois and actually know what they are talking about.

So not everyone has sold out.

U should have watched that 60-minutes program about 3 years ago about the garbage China's spreading to the world. I don't like that "Made in China" stickers and I try to buy things made in Europe or USA. I'm willing to pay more - just not China! Oh, and Chevy has some of its cars made in Mexico...
BTW in 1998 I've been to a Harley-Davidson factory in Pennsylvania (I think in York).
