Call me crazy/stupid, but the horse is an athlete too, and it and its caretakers should be held to the same standard.
They definitely arent the only ones. It's part of the sport.

throwing races has been part of the sport also, but I digress

Looking back on it now...it all just seems too perfect. The trainer before the race is talking nonstop smack about how great his horse is to completely ramp up all of the hype around his horse, yet he doesn't give him the shot....and now he wasn't the same.

Seems like a fix to me.

According to the following yahoo article, it doesnt sound like the steroids would have made a difference anyways...

Here is an excerpt from it....

Dutrow was criticized after acknowledging he used an anabolic steroid on Big Brown, then said last week that the horse hadn't had a dose of Winstrol since April. It's known to increase appetite and promote weight gain and healing. The drug is legal in the three states where the Triple Crown races are run.
"I doubt if that comes up to be the answer," Larry Bramlage, the on-call veterinarian, said after the race. "It's not that kind of situation where it's going to be a stimulant for him. The anabolic steroids keeps him eating and keeps him happy and keeps him aggressive, all of which he showed all week long."

no, thankfully it didn't happen. But in my opinion, the horse never should've been put into a life and death situation. The fact of the matter is this, no he didn't become injured and nothing happened which is good, but why does the trainer take that chance? I can answer this, money. Like I said, if he had mis-stepped and hurt himself even worse, chances are it would've been fatal to the horse.

And I am not complaining just to complain. I am complaining because I am angry. I am sorry if it bothers you that someone putting a horse in a situation where the horse could fatally injure itself, bothers me.

You are making an assumption for the sake of being angry, which is fine I suppose, but it wont get you anywhere. I doubt they put that horse out there if there was any chance it could suffer an injury that would be considered lethal, there is far more money to be made since he sold the breeding rights for more then 50 million, not to mention listening to the trainer leads me to believe he does care about the horse and its health. I dont believe that they would take a horse that is literally worth more then 50 million and take a chance of throwing all of that away for a shot at a triple crown if it meant the horse could suffer a lethal injury, but thats just my opinion.

I understand what you are saying, but I have my opinion on the matter. I'll leave it at that.
