    Vertigo....

    is no joke man.

Ive had some mild cases before, but never IN ACTION. I was in the middle of a basketball game and started getting dizzy running down court....by the time I got to the bench I fell dead flat on my face and busted my nose pretty good from the fall.

its scary man, i never had it happen in the middle of actually doing something..imagine if it happened on the road...

    anyone else suffer from this?

no, I did faint the other day. I stood up and started walking, then blacked out. I guess I fell down and a few moments later I didn't know what happened and didn't even really know where I was for a minute.

      Re: Vertigo....

I can't imagine what vertigo must be like. I do get dizzy spells once in a while usually the whole "blood rushing through the body" type of dizziness and it's so disorienting. I nearly fell down once!

But yeah, thankfully i've never had to deal with vertigo. It must be a tough situation at times. Are people with mild cases of vertigo allowed to drive? I mean what if it did happen on the road?

I get it sometimes when I wake up... you're right - it's no joke.. it's like the whole room spins wildly out of control (more than say if you were drunk). It gets to the point where I have to clutch the sides of my bed to "stay on".. Then of course is the "sick to the stomach" feeling that comes with it. Luckily it's very rarely I get it..

Never had it but remember reading what Nick Esasky (former Reds and Red Sox player) and David Duval went through. Had to be tough. It would drive me crazy.

            Wow, that's horrible.

Could you imagine if you passed out like that while going to the bathroom in public or something? Like having some kid find you with your pants around your ankles in the mall?

I hope that doesn't happen to you.

Yea i get it a lot too. I think it has to do with sinuses and ear infections. I remember i was playing a basketball game and i tried to play through it, it was the toughest thing ever. I was a major part of the team and we were struggling to score whenever i tried to catch the ball or get a rebound the ball would be spinning. I would see five of them! I got fouled once, i went to the line, and i looked up at the basket and saw about five of those. I basically shot them with my eyes closed and i guess my muscle memory let me make both of them, but man was it scary. It also sucks during baseball games, I feel so afraid I'm going to miss the ball.

If you go to the doctor they just tell you they don't know what to do it really sucks.

You would play baseball when you can't see straight?

UNC Coach Roy Williams has had it happen to him a couple of times on the sidelines, after screaming at the team or the refs... He never really fell out, but he would drop to a knee then have to be helped to the bench.

My fiance has been battling Benign Paroxysmal Veritgo for the past 2 weeks. Most of the dizziness went away last week, but she still has some double vision in her left eye. I didn't know much about vertigo before she had a case of it, but it's nothing to sneeze at.

I've had some bouts of vertigo before...I think mine has to do with me having such low blood pressure.

Its terrible though, I felt so helpless.

My girlfriend has vertigo now and has had it the last few days, it's so terrible seeing her struggling because there's nothing you can do. They gave her antivert medicine, but it doesn't cure anything, just helps with the symptoms. She can't work (she's a waitress), and who knows how long it's going to last. Which is very troubling, we're a young couple trying to make it, so this is going to set us back a bit as far as bills and whatnot goes. I'm helping her with any money she needs, but we may have to ask family for a loan or something until she gets better. Luckily, when she does recover, she can make good money quickly being a waitress.

She actually went to the hospital with her mom this morning to see if they could do anything further for her or see if maybe it's a sign of something else, not just vertigo. As terrible as vertigo is, I hope that's all it is. I'm a bit worried this morning.

It's had me singing "Vertigo" by U2 a lot recently. Now I understand why the lyrics are a bit off sounding. Ha.

My mother has a bad case of it. A few times a year she is so dizzy that she is bed ridden for days. It also makes her forget things. She looks so helpless an it kills me too see her in that state. I just hope it never occurs while she is out driving or something. She now takes medication for it.
