I heard it on O&A as well, while this guy did sound like he wanted to kill these to, I can't feel bad that he did it. It's not like they were productive people, they were illegals who had criminal records in the country they were from.

He shouldn't have killed them but I don't really feel strongly either way here.

If you hear the 911 tape this guy wanted to shoot these guys, i agree that was wrong. If you rob someone or break into a house and get shot that is the risk you take in commiting a crime like that.

Re: Man cleared for killing neighbors burglars

he said he wanted to kill them straight up. no burgular deserves DEATH. the state and laws arent even that strict. cops cant shoot fleeing suspects in the back.. this just rules of redneck texas justice.

backwards laws and what not. the fact they were illegal immigrants probably was brought up.

whats next? he sees kids egging a house across the street and breaking some mailboxes. he proceeds to get his gun and kill everyone in the car?

why not shoot in the air to scare them or shoot in the leg or knee or lower body? this guy had not authority over those guys at all. if they wanted to run away, he has no say in saying, stop or i will shoot.

he didnt know they were illegal immigrants im sure. what if it was some AMERICAN who lost his job and wanted to steal some stuff? the illegal part is irrelevant

Apparently he did. Authority is in the hands of whoever kills someone and walks away with no prison time.

I dont think he deserved jail time, and I wont go into how I feel about the original situation because when it was orginally brought up enough was said at that time

Please everyone against this guy post your address online so all the criminals can come break into your home and steal all your stuff since you won't be doing anything to stop them.

If you break into my house, if I had a gun, I wouldn't think twice about using it. He told them to stop or he would shoot, they kept running, they got the consequences. Criminals will think twice about breaking into homes in states like Texas where they have laws protecting people for using a gun against people committing a crime. The only way I would feel anything for the criminals is if they were only stealing food because they and their family were starving.

...congrats to the man for killing some criminals and getting away with it.

I'd do the same thing... if they broke into my house while I was inside. But shooting them in the back when it wasn't even his house they broke into, he went too far, imo.

Plus, the way I remember it, the burglars were unarmed with units already dispatched and on the way. A simple scare with the gun would have been enough.

It's a beautiful thing. Joe did it right. Sometimes the cops can't get all the glory. Good for Joe and the community.
