Heck no, i never would, ive seen a gator attack in person, and ive seen on TV and heard enough reports to respect them. My parents live on a golf course, on a lake and a gator lives in there, and i refuse to go near the water. My dog jumped in the lake one day and i jumped in after him, terrified that one of us would get eaten (nothing happened, thank God).

This is just a case of stupidity. Its not the gators fault the kids an idiot, but this will get people screaming to kill all the alligators

Yeah, what's even worse about this story is that the guy is being paraded around on tv everywhere now like he's a hero for surviving the attack and fighting off the gator. It's good that he survived the with only the loss of his arm but it was his own stupidity that caused it. I can think of more positive ways to get national exposure. LOL

As far as I'm concerned, the alligators were there first... it's their land. If you get bit for intruding, it's your own fault.

Well, what I meant by that is that he claims they were not drunk but I would have to think that he's lying and that they were for him to do something this stupid.

I've swam with alligators before at the springs near Tallahassee... Then again these gators are really used to seeing people around and usually keep to themselves.

When I say I've swam with them I don't mean like swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove, I mean swimming in the same body of water they're in.

Other than that, I stay out of lakes in FL. So many gators around all the time, like Lake Jessup in Orlando, the most gators in any lake in the world (or US, can't remember). I don't know how people swim and do watersports in that lake.

Dumb kids. He deserve what he got. Sorry but his story that they stopped drinking at 6pm and that they also had a designated driver is all bs. What kind of teens do this? When we were all teens, we were all stupid.. this guy bites the cake.

You know what happened, they were all getting drunk.. Kid wanted to impress the girls, so he makes a bet that he can swim across the canal without anything happening to him.. Gators chomps down, and he blames "overpopulation"???

I sure hope my kids have more sense than this one.
