My yard is dying a slow, painful death yet again.

So we just had the worst drought in State history last summer and now, the rain has gone away yet again.

My grass was just starting to come back to life in May and June, but we haven't had any decent rainfall since June 14th.

I swear, even when we do get some rain, there is a force field around my neighborhood that blocks it.

I just got back from doing some cardio at the gym..which is a whopping 2 miles from my house. A MONSOON came crashing down on the gym, I swear I thought the windows would blow out. It POURED down rain for a solid 15 minutes. I was like..."Great! My grass needs it!"

Well..I drive home and my neighborhood hasn't had a DROP of rain..not a single drop. In fact, the freaking sun is now out. What. The. Hell.

Yes...I know...I'm old and boring now.

Well, on the plus side, without a lawn you wont have to chase kids off of it.

Cover everything in concrete, no more problem.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Here is an idea AA, water the grass yourself?

Yes it does, my folks did it about 17 years to their backyard.

I do, but we are on water restrictions and I can only water twice a week, which when you are dealing with a drought, is pretty much trying to put a band aid over a gaping head wound.

I know the feeling AA. Worst drought in over 100 years last year, and this year isn't much better in Georgia. My grass is in fair shape, just doesn't grow very much with rain we're getting, or the lack of. I think I've cut the grass 4-5 times this year.

I haven't made it a full week yet this year without mowing. Too much rain.

I have artificial turf in my backyard. It's awesome. Looks great, no water, dog friendly.

Hey. How do you install that stuff in your yard? Do you have to rip out all the old grass and put in the synthetic field turf type stuff?

I have the same problem. No matter how hard it rains here, or at work, i cant seem to get any water on my lawn, its like i live in a freaking dome.
