It will be hard, but having both agree on it will make it easier. It would really hurt if she left you. It will still hurt, but it will be a little eaiser to get over it this way. Love is tough. I have a feeling you guys will get back together. You never know.

Hey CB, I have been there before. I was with a girl for over 3 years, thought i was gonna marry her, I got in a rut as far as work is concerned, had to take a lower paying job and she left me.

I wont lie to you, i felt devastated at the time. But a couple months after that, I ended up getting a job better than any I had before. (still working here almost 4 years later) Less than a year after that, I met the most wonderful woman who I fully plan on marrying. (saving up for a nice ring right now). If you would have told me things were gonna get better in the 1st couple days, I wouldnt have believed you. But they will my friend. Hang in there.

I went through the same song and dance.
Was with a girl for 6 years, bought a condo together, we were engaged for 2 years, and we split in january of '05.
I made sure I stayed busy after the breakup. It was rough not waking up to her or coming home to her, and wondering if she was with somebody else.

I played sports 5 days a week, so that and being with my friends made the days alot easier to deal with, but some of those nights were really tough.

Anyways- to put a happy ending on this nightmare, she ended up emailing out of the blue about a year after our breakup ( and after being in a short relationship with a complete douche).
We planned to meet for some drinks, and I was so nervous waiting for a girl I had been with for 6 years. It was strange. To make a long story short- she ended up moving into my apartment after she sold the condo. We got married in feb of 2007, and should be closing on our first house next month.

hahaha... that's a good attitude.

I went through a break up not long ago... not nearly as serious a relationship as yours, but I have at least some idea of what you're going through.

It's tough. Multiple people I've talked to have compared it to the death of someone close to you. And I concur.

Keeping busy is probably the best thing anyone could suggest. Your friends and family are there to help you. Even if it's not exactly what you're hoping for, they might be able to get your mind off of what happened.

And don't be afraid to get professional help. I did. It defintely allowed me to view some things in a different way.

Don't worry man, it'll make you apreciate relationships when they're going good a little more. Almost everyone goes through it at least once, usually alot more than once. It's just one of those things that'll help you be a better man, and it's ok to cry, alot.
