It's been very successful so far as many Convergence emphasis students have jumped right into editor positions, making $50,000+, which is ridiculous for a starting job in journalism.
For real... that's a nice starting salary.

Our journalism program is basically wide open. They have different "paths" and suggested schedules for Broadcast vs. Print, But, as far as I can tell, you can go back and forth between print and broadcast. I'm leaning toward classes that focus more on broadcasting though... I really enjoy it.

What kind of extracurricular stuff did you do? You write for your school paper or do anything like that?

Right now I am planning to go to grad school there (a top history grad program, especially in my area). The plan is to either go the professor route or do something involved with museums. Next summer I get to go work at an archaeological dig in Greece through OSU at one of the sites of the pan-henellic games, Isthmia (Olympia being the most famous).

The great thing about Mizzou's J-School is you get plenty of real-world experience as part of the curriculum. For three semesters I worked at the Columbia Missourian (one of the two city newspapers in Columbia), producing online content (videos, slideshows, etc.) for two semesters and was part of the graphics staff for the paper last semester. I've also produced short radio stories for Columbia's NPR affiliate, 91.3 KBIA, and produced some online content for Columbia's NBC affiliate KOMU.

Also had a summer internship at Dos Mundos bilingual newspaper in Kansas City. That was an interesting experience, learned some spanish and got to do all kinds of things for the paper (photography, writing, designing, etc.).

            LoL at the engineers.

            I have:

Intro to Russian language, also known as 6 hours of 4.0 GPA

Selected topics in Russian Language and Literature: Poetics of Space in Russian Cinema and Culture (seriously, with a name like that, how can you not sign up?)

            Russian Civilization

Seminar in Government and Politics: Game Theory

I think I'm looking at 12 credits of A and 3 credits of B, working for a 3.8 average and hopefully the ever elusive "teacher recommendation". I've got a congressman, the president of an interest group, and a chief of staff of another congressman, but heaven forbid a teacher give me some props.

Was thinking of taking nutrition in place of weight training to put myself at 17units.. don't really want to take chinese since it's probably going to be the hardest class, but there were no econ classes. I found that if I go ahead with this schedule, i'll be taking back to back to back finals. That should be fun.
                      I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can't
