not necessarily true...though the winds aren't at hurricane status, they can still do damage. Naples, FL got hit pretty hard by this storm - trees are down, power lines out, and other minor damage.

the house my wife and i just bought has a high wind rating...our roof and garage door can sustain up to 130 mph winds (built in '03). but the problem is for the many thousands of people (mostly seniors) that live in mobile home parks. those can be disastrous, even in a tropical storm.

Yep, after hurricanes hit Florida they usually come over us in Georgia as tropical storms and sometimes they are no joke. They can produce tornadoes left and right, and like mkharsh said, they can knock down trees, power lines, and other stuff. I have a lot of trees around my house, so I dont care for strong winds.

I wish was still going to come to Georgia and stall, we really needed the rain, but now it looks like it won't do much.

I just hope everyone is safe. We don't need anyone else lost Katrina-style.

I'll keep people around this area in my prayers.

I wish we would get some rain from it too.

Too bad the depression won't come to Nashville. We have had no rain in the month of August.

Alright... scratch what I said last night.

Fay has been sitting on us for almost two days now, and rainfall is around 20 inches in my area. I went to help one of our family friends out today, and their house was flooded because their pool overflowed into their TV room. To help them suck up all the water, I drove to get a DriVac, and couldn't get to the house because there was water up above car bumpers down that street.

Qb, you might wanna check on your parents... there's been a lot of flooding and power loss. So far my family hasn't had any problems, knock on wood.

Already did and they're OK, no problems for them. Although my Grandpap who lives nearby has some water, but they don't think it's anything major and he rents, so the the landlord said they would take care of it. Thanks for the heads up though and I hope your luck continues...

strangely enough, we're getting more rain here (just northeast of tampa) with this thing heading north than what we did when it was coming up the west coast (potentially 2-4 inches). this is a strange storm...

Its starting to creep into southern Georgia now. Its dark and cloudy outside and its starting to get breezy. Looks like we should get some rain and I hope so, because we really need it.
