    Tropical Storm Fay

Didn't know if there are any fellow OSers in the path of the storm.

We live in Pasco County, FL (one county north of Tampa) and it's headed at us. Shouldn't be too bad, but hopefully it doesn't become hurricane status. Our kids started school today, and the school district for the county has already canceled for Tuesday.

My wife works for the Tampa Tribune newspaper as a graphic artist, and the concern in downtown Tampa is flooding from the storm surge. Her office sits right next to a channel downtown. Should be interesting...

My grandparents live in Spring Hill in Hernando County. The storm doesn't look too bad. You all will get a whole lot of rain most likely, but I don't think you will have too many wind problems.

I live in Oldsmar ((outside Clearwater/at pete) and we are all set for the storm. Doesn't look like it will do much here. Hope everyone stays safe

Cool. My grandparents live just off of Highway 19 directly beside Weeki Wachee. It's where the Village Inn used to be (it's closed now) if you know where that is. Their house is down in that neighborhood.

Another instance of all the weather people crying wolf. One day the Bay area will get slammed by a real storma nd no one will be ready after these hundreds of false alarms.......

I hope things don't get too crazy, MK. I have two college buddies down in the Tampa area and my parents are on the other side near Melbourne (doubt they'll get anything but a some extra rain). If you aren't too busy battening down the hatches, we should get another game of NHL (back & forth to finish at 7-6? Still in disbelief!) in sometime...

well, it took a hard right turn this morning and we barely got a drop of rain out of it. i have never seen a storm like this...very well formed over land, but never reached hurricane status before reaching land. we were fortunate this time...but i feel for those who will be affected by this.

Here in Melbourne, everything's been fine so far. I actually ignorantly drove to McDonald's down A1A during the worst part of the storm and barely even noticed, and was even outside for a few hours today on a porch drinking some brews.

Don't take it too lightly... but it really isn't that bad.

tropical storms typically don't do anything other than dump a bunch of rain ...

That's good to hear. My parents are right around there (closer to Viera off of Wickham Road) and I haven't talked to them since Saturday. Guess I should get off of OS and pick up the phone...

I know this... but our governor declared a state of emergency a few days before the storm came and people were freaking out about it in general before it even made landfall.
