American History
I know political discussion is not allowed, but this is not really a discussion on politics. We are living in interesting times. No matter the outcome this year we will make history in the US. Either we will have out first black president, or our first female vice-president. Watching the news all day has made me feel like I am living in a dream or something. It's all kind of hard to believe. It wasn't that long ago where either of these scenarios were completely impossible. Now it's actually going to happen. Again, this is not a political discussion, just a discussion on the history about to be made this year in the US.Last edited by trobinson97; 08-29-2008, 02:19 PM.PS: You guys are great.

Re: American History
Lol c'mon man, no need to make statements like this. Just handle things as they come.
While I question McCain's reasoning for his VP choice, this is definitely a monumental race for the Oval Office. Hopefully this is a sign that this country has some hope. We're definitely living in some amazing times.Comment

Re: American History
Im both excited and fearful. No matter what i think about any of these people, it worries me with all the crazies out there that something could happen to them. I dont think the US is in a place to deal with that right now. It is very interesting times, with how the economy is and other factors i cant discuss on OS, but we are in very unique times and unchartered waters. Hopefully our country can get it together on all fronts.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Re: American History
This will also be the first time since John F. Kennedy(47 years ago) a Senator be elected president.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: American History
EDIT: Actually never mind, I see what you mean but LBJ was a senator far longer then he was ever a VP and besides he hated the VP job with a burning passion.
As the Chinese say "May you live in interesting times". That's what immediately jumps out at me when I look at the world today and this election in particular.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: American History
the best thing about this race to me is that BOTH of the tickets are acting like they want to shake up Washington and force some change. BOTH parties in Washington have gotten so corrupt, and status quo, some shake up is needed imo.
Palin has actually accomplished change from the status quo in her short time as governor and her political career overall. It doesnt seem to be just talk. It is good to see MCain pick her and it's good to see reform as a top priority.Last edited by ZB9; 08-29-2008, 07:32 PM.Comment

Re: American History
It's because she's hot. That's the problem with McCain's VP pick. She's intelligent and a smart cookie from what i've seen and heard but her use of colloquilisms (sp) and her "MILF" looks makes it kinda hard for the average joe to take her seriously.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
