Time to vent

So my dad went to court today for his Social Security hearing after almost 3 years of a wait. He's been in construction since he's been he was 16 so thats all he knows.

As for his retirement, he had to have both shoulders operated on and cant lift any real weight (grand kids, etc) so those are all shot. He has screwed up feet so walking for more than 10 minutes at a time is not going to happen. In the past 5 years he's attempted to work in the construction industry still but cant keep up anymore. Oh and keep in mind, he's in his 60's now.

So the judge in all his wisdom, decides he can be a courier of all things which require A) walking and B) lifting along with bending up and down. So he denies my dad in SS.

And the lawyer was such a dumb **** he forgot papers, after the hearing he decided that my dad should have gotten more tests done (would've thought he would recommend anything and everything to cover all the bases before the hearing, but I guess thats a stretch). He kept talking about not letting it go but as of now, that'd be another year minimum of a wait for something we should've had 3 years ago. Atleast he didnt get any pay out of this **** sandwich.

Wow you had an incompetent lawyer. I wonder what the hell the judge was thinking though. That's pretty messed up.

I hope the situation with your father can be resolved sooner then later with better results.

Dang man, sorry to hear that for you and your dad and family. Hopefully it can be overturned or resolved in your dad's favor

Thanks, in little over a year it'll be a moot point anyway when he can collect. It's just that it'd be nice to get the retro pay going which would really help out with the slow job market here. Ironic, construction and construction management is the one market doing well here.

Lawyer called and said he's trying to get the judge to reopen the case to resubmit (papers he forgot) files and some other junk. He pisses me off more than getting denied since he came wavin his dick in the wind

It's too bad that you don't need a working brain to be a lawyer (no disrespect to MassNole and the other competent lawyers in the world).

But, seriously, it seems like your lawyer dragged his feet and decided not to carry any of the extra necessary paperwork. In an ironic twist, your dad could have done his lawyer's job just as efficiently.

Oh what adds to the ironic part, my dad's construction days were for the government; military bases and prisons in CA..

how old is your dad if you don't mind me asking.

He said in the post you quoted that he was in his 60s.

He's 60, turns 61 in late January. The 62 age I think is when SS starts automatically so we got awhile to wait if nothing comes from the court funhouse
