Neo Geo games were $200 a pop, we see how well that went, But seriously, what a perfect game to you may not be perfect for someone else. There is a thread in 2k forum where a guy who played the Beta says the sliding is not bad compared to NbA live 09..Im like What? Have you even played the Live demo? There is practically no sliding but your fan boyism is saying other wise? Oh well Ill pay 60 bucks unless there are bonus disk, so 80 I say.

A realisitc hoops game with online legacy mode and the ability to pull real recruit names from rivals would have me wide open.

The perfect simulation, but absolutely no roster updates after the first year?

        $49-59.

This sites users are either much poorer or don't enjoy sports video games nearly as much as I thought.

so you'd pay under retail value for a perfect game and normal price for a flawed game?

If the perfect game (using NCAA or Madden as a reference) would keep me enthralled for hours on end, never get old, have every feature i wanted, would upodate teams and rosters each year with real recruits (NCAA) or real rookies (Madden) and stay fresh year after year, id pay 500-600 bucks. Thats 10 years of Madden or NCAA, and instead of me paying 60 bucks a year and being pissed, id buy it once and be playing that perfect game for 10 years. Make it happen EA
Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

You too can be a 5* recruit at FSU.......

Something like that would definitely be worth at least $250 - $300. If EA or 2K would pack 10 years of gameplay, features, and keep regular updates teams and rosters with real rookies/recruits, then I have to agree with Callmetaternuts and rather save up money and buy the perfect football or NBA game once and enjoy the heck out of it instead of being letdown year after year.

Keep in mind, initial post/question stated that rosters could no longer be updated after one year.

The game would have to have the ability to edit everything down to the field/court then.

yes, because everyone has "one million dollars" to spend on a yearly sports franchise like you do. Please.

Games are only one form of entertainment, not buying a car. I'd pay the same $60 price I do for every other game, as the term "perfect sports game" is an oxymoron anyways. By design, they have short development times and release yearly. The licensed games have design restrictions placed on them by the NBA, NFL, NHL, etc. Also, why buy Perfect Sports Game 2010 if Perfect Sports Game 2009 was so damn perfect?

You are thinking way too hard about a simple hypothetical.

The absolute perfect game wouldn't need upgrades (obviously) nor any new iterations. Aside from roster/stadium updates or whatever kind of online updates you want (as provided with the "perfect game" experience), I would pay maybe $200, but no more.

I'd drop $100 for an absolutely perfect game. Can't afford anything more expensive

With absolutely no roster updates, why would I want to keep playing it? It would get pretty tiring having to try to keep up with all the trades, attribute updates, and creating players.

Even if the gameplay was perfect - without features to keep the game up to date, it wouldn't last me more than maybe a year or two. This is also assuming there's no way to update rosters via some editor like the one for 2k5.

So - I'd pay what I pay for any other game that lasts me that long; $49-$59.

Especially since said game is still coming out every year. Basically if I want to keep things up to date, I have to spend that money every single year to do so. I'm sure as hell not going to pay much more than that for one game, if I'm going to have to pay it each following year.

I basically spent about $500 purely to play The Show '08, so I don't know how much I'd pay for a perfect video game.
