    Karma...

For those who don't know, my wife is 10 weeks pregnant. She's starting to get cravings already. Sunday morning, she wakes up at about 10am and tells me she wants steak fries. So...there's a Red Robin about 15 minutes down the road in Greensboro. I waited until they opened at 11 and called to place a pick up order.

I drive down there to get our food and there's a group of kids out there from some local rec football league selling raffle tickets. I didn't think much of it, as I had a pregnant wife at home wanting some damn steak fries. So I go in, pick up my food, and start to get back into my car to leave.

As I'm getting in my car, I notice an older couple walking towards the door. The kids approached this couple asking if they wanted to buy any raffle tickets. The old man was really kind of rude in the way he said no, almost acting as though buying a raffle ticket was beneath him. I could see on the kid's face (he was probably 11 or 12 years old) that the way this old man reacted to him kinda hurt his feelings.

So...being the big softy that I am, I go over and ask the kid about the tickets. He said they were 1 for $1 or 10 for $5. I give him a 5 and take the 10 tickets.

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. I'm laying on the couch watching TV after work and I get a phone call. I answer...and it's someone from this rec football league, telling me I've won the raffle's grand prize...a 26" Vizio LCD TV!

Now...EG knows I've been in the market for a new TV for the living room, which would mean the living room TV (a 32" Westinghouse LCD) would be migrating to my man room to replace the 19" Samsung widescreen PC monitor I've been using to play. But you can't beat free...and my XBox 360 games look FANTASTIC on the 26" Vizio.

But...karma, folks. If those old bastards would've just bought a raffle ticket from those kids instead of being rude as hell, THEY would've probably been the ones to win the TV.

    Their loss...my gain!

    Ah yes, good ole karma........

Great story and although you won a great tv for yourself and Wife, I bet you really saved face with the kids. You probably wiped the memory of that older gentleman out of their heads, and made a nice little impact by doing what you did.

So I guess the moral of the story is........

Always buy steak fries for your wife when she pregnant! Are you going to name your kid Robin now??

LOL, no. I'm currently negotiating a naming rights deal with Steve. Operation Sports Cutini will enter this world sometime in late April.

Hmmmm, well he might need therapy as he gets older......

I am telling you Robin Cutini screams starting 3rd baseman for the Chicago Cubs.

"and now at bat, Robin Cutini" and the crowd goes wild.

Just think about it, thats it..

I already have an elaborate plan for him (if he winds up being a he). He's going to be a place kicker for the Buffalo Bills and avenge the good name of Scott Norwood by kicking the game winning field goal in Super Bowl 75.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                        Nice Story TJ.

I'm glad you got a good reward for a good deed. I think what causes some people to not be so nice is that they don't see the reward for a good deed right away, so they get discouraged.

Glad to hear things are going well for ya.
