I drive down there to get our food and there's a group of kids out there from some local rec football league selling raffle tickets. I didn't think much of it, as I had a pregnant wife at home wanting some damn steak fries. So I go in, pick up my food, and start to get back into my car to leave.
As I'm getting in my car, I notice an older couple walking towards the door. The kids approached this couple asking if they wanted to buy any raffle tickets. The old man was really kind of rude in the way he said no, almost acting as though buying a raffle ticket was beneath him. I could see on the kid's face (he was probably 11 or 12 years old) that the way this old man reacted to him kinda hurt his feelings.
So...being the big softy that I am, I go over and ask the kid about the tickets. He said they were 1 for $1 or 10 for $5. I give him a 5 and take the 10 tickets.
Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. I'm laying on the couch watching TV after work and I get a phone call. I answer...and it's someone from this rec football league, telling me I've won the raffle's grand prize...a 26" Vizio LCD TV!
Now...EG knows I've been in the market for a new TV for the living room, which would mean the living room TV (a 32" Westinghouse LCD) would be migrating to my man room to replace the 19" Samsung widescreen PC monitor I've been using to play. But you can't beat free...and my XBox 360 games look FANTASTIC on the 26" Vizio.
But...karma, folks. If those old bastards would've just bought a raffle ticket from those kids instead of being rude as hell, THEY would've probably been the ones to win the TV.
Their loss...my gain!
