Blizzarding right now, over 50 mph wind gusts blowing snow all over causing zero visibility. Supposed to be like this through Saturday.

Apparently somewhere closer to Fargo there was a 100 car pile up on the interstate.

EDIT: FYI, they name blizzards up here like they do with Hurricanes...it's been deemed Blizzard Casey.

CINCINNATI, Ark., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A tornado in northwest Arkansas killed at least three people Friday morning, rescue workers said.

Several homes and buildings in the village of Cincinnati, including the firehouse, were heavily damaged, Washington County EMS officials told KFSM-TV in Fort Smith, Ark.
Should be an interesting day of weather to follow around the Mid South, that's for sure.

Blizzard, round 2 is about to begin. Supposed to get as much as 10-12 inches from this one, along with 40+ mph wind gusts. No travel advised for the entire eastern half of the state, interstates and highways are closed all over. Probably one of the worst blizzards I've seen since moving here in 2005.
The wind chill right now is -33. 0_o

Last year we had a crazy Christmas blizzard, this year it's a New Years blizzard. Funny.

Man, I would rather be getting that snow from this system. It rained all day yesterday, and now it got cold so there's up to an inch of ice on everything outside the main roads. Now we're gonna get about 3 inches of snow on top of it. Just ugly. It took me a half hour to chip the ice off my vehicle's windows this morning.

My car was covered in ice this morning as well. Not as much as yours, took about 10-15 min to get off. Says it's now 35 degrees outside but it seriously feels like its in the 20s.

Apparently an EF-3 tornado or greater went right through downtown Jackson MS this afternoon.

So far 6 fatalities with this system.

Currently 51 degrees (in mid michigan, thick of winter)

The remnants of our recent blizzard completely melted besides the giant parking lot hills.

Nothing like hearing Tornado sirens on New Year's Eve. Only in the Midwest?

1 death in Rolla, MO about a half hour from here, and several buildings damaged at nearby Fort Leonard Wood.

The Post is lucky this happened while the military and their families were mostly all still away for vacation - could have been much worse.

Also, this kind of stuff is about the only way my area ever makes the national news.

They have things like this on display around Fort Leonard Wood, and this one.....isn't supposed to be upside down:

Big time underestimated early estimate here. Reports are now 150+ homes damaged, around 40 completely destroyed. The tornado went through a residential area of the post, where all the houses are lined up pretty much alongside one another.

Nothing but minor injuries reported, though - again, the majority of soldiers and their families were out of town on vacation leave.

Good to hear there were no casualties. Damage sounds pretty serious though.

So according to some long range models, we're looking at a possible arctic outbreak across most of the country in about two weeks. So cold, we could be looking at temperatures below zero in the Mid South.

Something to certainly keep an eye on as the week passes.

Well it's supposed to be mid 70s as a high this week, but i might have to consider putting on a pair of jeans or a sweater at one point. I love Florida, atleast the weather part of it

6z NAM looking like this for Southern snowfall totals..

Still a ways out but looking great for Memphis to atleast get 4-5 inches of snow, if not more.
