This has been an extra odd winter. Started with an early snowfest in november, then december was totally quiet, then a foot of snow in january followed immediately by a generational arctic blast, then a three day warm front into the mid 50s, and now currently bombarded by "ice pellets". Usually we the term "sleet" or "wintry mix" or whatever, but tonight is the first time I can remember hearing "ice pellets" specifically
just went out with the little dog and it was weird watching him trying to navigate, the ice pellets were affecting his paws the same way the ice melt pellets affect him... so I had to carry him around and make sure his paw pads were clear when we got back inside. Weird stuff
