This has been an extra odd winter. Started with an early snowfest in november, then december was totally quiet, then a foot of snow in january followed immediately by a generational arctic blast, then a three day warm front into the mid 50s, and now currently bombarded by "ice pellets". Usually we the term "sleet" or "wintry mix" or whatever, but tonight is the first time I can remember hearing "ice pellets" specifically

just went out with the little dog and it was weird watching him trying to navigate, the ice pellets were affecting his paws the same way the ice melt pellets affect him... so I had to carry him around and make sure his paw pads were clear when we got back inside. Weird stuff

Only 1 somewhat minor snowfall back in early December but that was it for all of late 2018 bad weather.

Then the major snowstorm here where around here got 1 foot of snow a few weeks back.

Earlier this week is was so warm that majority of that snow melted.

Today is an ice storm.

At this rate, I'm guessing by March we'll see a monsoon lol.


But I'm surprised how unprepared everyone was. City didn't have snowplows coming in and salting the roads in the night, and on the news they said many campuses were open(but decided to close in the afternoon), as if it's never snowed or been icy before, and they were caught off guard with the weather.

Rain...rain...and more rain with a slight chance of severe storms that include rainfall amounts of 2"-4" per hour and tornadoes.

Third straight night of ice storms, schools have been in session for two total days the last two weeks. Man, this never happened when I was a kid, I'd be basking in the snow/ice, hot chocolate, sleeping in... damn these lucky kids!

Today is gonna be crazy. So bad that at 6am they've cancelled all schools. And this is the city where you could get a foot of snow and a blizzard and they'd just tell kids/parents "take your time and leave earlier".

Apparently they've only closed for a full day once before in the 90s. Ever since, nothing has ever been closed. Hopefully this means they'll do it more in the future when needed. Because as a kid, going to school in such dangerous weather isn't safe. And teachers obviously hate it too because you still have to come,and class is like 10 people, you just watch movies all day or combine classes with the teacher next door.

Major winds expected Sunday. So bad they're warning people in advance about power going out.

Seriously, if power goes out again this will be ridiculous. I know bad weather causes this, but for a major city, they need to do better job at these things. Can't prevent something like lines breaking or trees falling on stuff, but a transformer blowing up because there's too many people using power, why can't they get new ones? Ones not from the 70s when majority of the buildings around weren't built yet which is why that transformer could handle the usage back then.

Yeah this wind is nuts, makes me think it might be one of those "people from the north be like ____" moments, where southerners in hurricane zones laugh at our 60-70 mph gusts

Sunny and cool today. Nice to the see the sun finally

Waiting for it to dry up so I can go around my back property line and pick up all the fallen tree branches from the wind we had the last 36 hours.

Spring begins tomorrow and weather starting to get better. Above freezing temperatures for the high. Some days the low are above freezing too. Soon enough everything will have melted.

Upcoming weekend looks nice...depending when and where you go to for weather info.

I checked on Saturday and they said next Saturday was gonna be great. Sunny all the way. Yesterday the predicted temps went down. Now today those temps went down again and calling for wet snow!

I said it before, I'd love to be a weatherman. Make up whatever you want days in advance. Just have current and next 2 or so days accurate and that's it.

Suppose to snow/rain the next few days. Last night it got down to 18 degrees.

So yeah got 13 inches of snow after 20 hours of non stop snowing. Currently 22 degrees.

It was 13 degrees this morning. Apparently Vermont have decided to not do spring this year, like it does most years. There is still a lot of snow on the ground out here.
