If I'm not mistaken tornadoes are worse than hurricanes for localized destruction, but hurricanes cover so much more ground the overall damage is way worse. Either way if your house takes a direct hit from either one you're ****ed.
We get a lot of tornado warnings but it's not usually because actual tornadoes were spotted, it's typically because "rotation clouds" were detected by the computers. I don't think the real deal touches down all that often here (Mid Michigan), but I'm also fortunate enough to live in a valley that makes it harder for them to touch down. I still freak out every time I see the warning though lol, can't help it, I start messaging people I know just in case
