Tomorrow will suck a little more, roads are going to be frozen solid with lovely ice sheets.

Wishful thinking, but I would like to see at least 1 good snowfall (2+ inches) by the year's end.

I'd like to see it snow every single day this winter. I know that won't happen, though!

Still, this coming winter has all the makings of a good winter in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, so places from Atlanta, to Charlotte, to Raleigh, to Richmond, and to D.C. could be in for a nice winter, something we haven't had for a few years.

It's setting up to be a wet and below average winter temperature-wise, so if we can just get the cold air and a big storm to collide, we could have some memorable storms. Hopefully, January 25th, 2000 will strike again (though that's wishful thinking)!

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

You guys who keep talking about your colleges being closed do the weather are lucky. I went to Allegheny College in Meadville, PA or about 40 miles south of lake Erie so it was in the snow belt and we got tons of snow in the winter. Basically, it would start snowing in November and you wouldn't see the grass again until March. Add to that the bitter cold and near constant wind with subzero wind chills not being uncommon. We had some pretty nasty weather up there yet classes were never cancelled due to weather. I think I once heard someone say classes hadn't been cancelled at AC since the 1970's. Actually, there was this one day when the weather was really bad and apparently some radio station said that Allegheny closed at something like 2:30 PM that afternoon. Thing is, nobody heard about it until about 5 days later so I don't know what that was about.

85 Sunny today. Going out tonight and it suppose to be around the 70s, the only probably appears to be the wind blowing like 30mph.

Sunny and mid 60's. A little windy, but I'll take that with the warmer temps.

Had 5" of rain over the last few days. The wind, rain, and the duration of the storm were extremely impressive.

Isn't the ratio of rain to snow is like 1 foot of snow for every inch of rain?

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON/GALVESTON HAS ISSUED A
WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING
                            THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

RAIN WILL DEVELOP EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE
IN THE LOWER 40S IN THE MORNING BUT WILL FALL QUICKLY INTO THE 30S
ONCE THE PRECIPITATION BEGINS. THE RAIN WILL GET A LITTLE HEAVIER
TOWARD NOON AND BECOME MIXED WITH AND CHANGE TO SNOW. PERIODS OF
SNOW ARE EXPECTED DURING THE AFTERNOON. THERE IS A GROWING
CONSENSUS THAT THE HEAVIER PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WILL LIE ALONG
AND EAST OF US HIGHWAY 59. SNOW AMOUNTS WILL VARY GREATLY
DEPENDING ON WHEN THE RAIN CHANGES OVER TO SNOW. PRELIMINARY
ESTIMATES SHOW SNOW TOTALS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ACROSS THE AREA WITH
SOME ISOLATED SNOW TOTALS APPROACHING 5 INCHES. MOST OF THE SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACES. THIS
SITUATION IS STILL IN FLUX AND FORECASTS COULD CHANGE RADICALLY BY
FRIDAY MORNING. PLEASE KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST FORECASTS...WINTER
WEATHER WATCHES...OR WARNINGS. THE THREAT OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
END OVERNIGHT AS THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES OFF TO THE EAST. VERY COLD
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT SO ANY RESIDUAL WET SPOTS
WILL FREEZE AND ELEVATED BRIDGES WILL LIKELY HAVE SOME ICY SPOTS.

                            PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

ROADS...BRIDGES...AND OVERPASSES IN THE WATCH AREA MAY BECOME
SLICK AND HAZARDOUS. ACCUMULATION OF SNOW OR ICE ON ROADWAYS...
BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES MAY MAKE TRAVEL TREACHEROUS. EXERCISE
CAUTION IF TRAVEL IS NECESSARY. MOTORISTS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT TO
