NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Police sources said three teenagers who were playing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" have been rescued from a New York sewer.

The sources said the three teens -- ages 17, 16 and 15 -- became lost in the sewer system while pretending to be the popular cartoon, movie and comic book characters, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

"These three idiots were playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and wanted to go into the sewers," said one police source. "They were never in danger, just goofing off and being stupid."Sponsored Links
Police said firefighters pulled the trio out of a manhole in the Kissena Park neighborhood of New York's Queens borough.

Officers charged the two older teens with criminal trespassing and the 15-year-old was released into the custody of his parents.

Look at the ages of those "kids"!

I'm not saying I wish them any harm, but natural selection seems to be rearing its head again.

Makes me wonder if they were going to meet their friend at McDonald's later so he could "buy" them lunch.

the police source that called these teens "idiots" couldn't have been more accurate. I mean, everyone knows you can't play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with just 3 people, you need a fourth and you also need a rat. To truly be authentic, you have to have a talking rat.

Playing Ninja Turtles with only three people? Like CB said, that's just lame. You can get away without having Master Splinter, but you HAVE to have 4 turtles.

It was never mentioned, and I don't remember seeing it asked, BUT... Could you guys imagine how much more hilarious this would all be if those jokers were in costume?

I don't care how professional you are - When you see a 17 year old kid dressed up like a giant turtle and stuck in a sewer, you have got to laugh.

The turtle story has to have been some kind of sarcastic cover for whatever else they were doing down there. Maybe myself and my peer group were weird but when we were that age we had long since stopped "playing" stuff.
