Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
They're not expected to make tips - so their salary shows that. Waiters and delivery people are expected to, and their salary also reflects that. They can make **** up front, and are expected to make most of their money through tips.Comment

I always tip car-hops. Usually at least a dollar. If they wear skates, I will give them more.
But car-hops are not paid below minimum wage like waiters. Waiters are paid below minimum wage and expect to catch up with their tips. So, I tip car-hops little, while I tip waiters/waitresses more.Comment

Never. They don't do anything but stand there and swipe a card. Plus, they get paid more up front than a delivery person or a waiter. Kids working at McDonald's here make quite a bit of money.

So a waiter at an expensive restaurant will end up making the same as a McDs employee 'cause they ''make **** up front''?
They all do the same job -
waiter at Four Seasons: bring me my food
McD kid: bring me my food

They are now. Sonic changed their policy and has started paying carhops like waiters.
Have you seen some of the drive-thru's these days? You can easily get lost.Comment

Interesting thing about the McD's and tipping... I've been to one in the middle of nowhere (not even by a highway stop) in Michigan, and during my meal the manager would stop by each table and ask if we were satisfied and wanted anything else to order. I wasbecause that kind of thing doesn't happen in the city McD's. haha I wonder if I should have tipped if I had bought somethin'.

I don't know for sure how it works completely, but I know the new people, at least at the one I used to work at, get paid $2.65 or whatever minimum wage is in Kansas, and make most of their money on tips.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
A buck or two at most. I tip very well at restaurants, but pizza places piss me off. If I'm ordering $15 worth of pizza, the over the phone price shouldn't be $20-22. If you're already charging me $3-5 for delivery, I'm not paying for the price of another pizza just to have it delivered.
The entire concept of delivery fees/mandatory tips pisses me off. I normally tip 20-25% at restaurants, but if they put the tip on the receipt, they're getting that and nothing else. I understand for big parties, but I'm a nice guy, generally dressed in nice clothing. I don't stiff people, and by accusing me of doing so, I'm not going to be happy.Comment
