Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
Its mostly to protect the driver from getting stiffed due to the high gas prices. The pizza place I deliver for charges $2 for delivery. I get $1.50 the shop get .50Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
Do you get a percentage of pizza's sold during your shift? A friend of mine who works for Papa John's does and he said that sometimes can help off-set poor tippers. Not sure what he gets from a delivery charge though.GT: Herkyalert

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
Tonight, it was raining and took a $40.93 order to one of the furthest parts of our delivery area and got a check written for the exact amount.
I could've strangled that bitch.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
When I lived in Canada, I tipped 3-5 dollars for a typical pizza order, maybe a few dollars more in a restaurant setting. Living in Australia, nothing, its not expected or even implied by anyone, and prices are 5% more expensive for things like pizza, haircuts, food, than they were in the US or back home. The pizza guy or a cab driver seem happy to get $1.50 when I say keep the change. The min wage is around $14 here though, so everyone gets paid well anyway in low income jobs.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
You guys ever think about other employment opportunities? Seriously, if you can complain about us not tipping, then we can call you out for staying in the industry.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
Well here's the thing man. We might complain about tips, but the reality is we have it made. Think about it. I get paid minimum wage. Which is $7 in Ohio, and going up to $7.25 Jan. 1st. If I work 6 hours a night. That's $42 before taxes. Say I take 10 runs and make $50. That's $92 for 6 hours of work. Which come out to $15.33/hr. Not to bad for whats considered not a "real" job.
Of course this always varies. I have averaged out weeks in the past, and made around $13-18 bucks an hour. Sure beats a lot of other jobs.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
Oh I def didn't intend nor imply that it wasn't a "real" job.
I'm just sick of the complaining about tips, I mean if it is as you say it is then apparently you're not doing too bad for yourself.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
I know you weren't but a lot of people do say its not a "real" job.
I know we really shouldn't complain. I guess its different for everyone though.
Also a funny thing about the pizza biz, is that it goes in cycles. You have good weeks and bad. But yeah, i am doing alright for myself. You pretty much never know what you are in store for. I took a delivery to a very nice house tonight and got stiffed. Then I took one to a so-so house and got an 8 dollar tip. Go figure.Comment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
That sucks man.
Tonight was a solid night for me. Drove from 5pm-midnight, took 22 deliveries and went home with $108.
However, some ****er decided it'd be fantastic to call at 11:58 and order a pizza to a house that's atleast 10 minutes away. Why the hell would you do that? That's like me pulling up to the Wendy's drive thru at 1:55am and expecting them to make me food. While they may still be 'open', you know damn well they really are closing up.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: How much do you tip the pizza guy?
There's this lady named Marla Epstein who comes in EVERY NIGHT at 9:55pm (lately she's gotten better after one of our own called her out on coming at 10:02 knowing damn well we close at 10pm). She's given us headaches for YEARS, always complaining about our scoop size, blah blah blah. I've yelled at her a few times myself.
Anyways, she's been coming so late and she knows damn well we close at 10. She literally comes in every night, and gets maybe 4 items to go. It's absurd. She eats it all herself and covers it up.
Just wanted to touch on that "last minute" thing.Comment
