Re: Strictly sports gamer
I can survive months and months of gaming with ONLY sports games, but I can't survive more than a month WITHOUT a sports game.
Right now it kinda sux for me. Yes COD5 is great and midnight club is great.....but after turning in pes 2009, nhl 09, madden 09 for quality reasons....I don't enjoy gaming as much nowadays. I need that 30-60 min getaway to a sports world and with that I enjoy my non-sports games even more. Without a sports game , like right now, I tend to get bored a lot quicker with my non-sports games.
Weird, I know, but that's how it goes. I'm praying that the show this year will be a gem ( all they need to do is make hitting harder, and that's it for me). If the show falls short.....my next hope is fight night...Comment

Re: Strictly sports gamer
I was curious how many here at OS only play sports games. I have tried to get into other games but I always find myself playing sports games more then anything else. I buy non-sports games but they end up sitting around collecting dust. I even end up buying older sports games that I enjoyed (such as High Heat and MVP baseball).
I even bought a PS3 last year just so I could play MLB The Show.
I would like to know who else is strictly a sports gamer.
I find it hard to play anything that's not sports, although there are some non-sporting titles I'd pick up and play occassionally.

Re: Strictly sports gamer
Probably for a different thread, but I personally hate playing randoms...Like in NBA people play so unrealistic it's not fun...Online gaming isn't always the solution, at least IMO. I don't blame people, it's human nature to find bugs in the game that allow you to be dumb, but it's annoying.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: Strictly sports gamer
I'd have to say Mass Effect, Fable II, GTA 4, Rainbow Six 2, and GOW 2 have got most of my playing time this year. For sports only College Hoops 2k8 is still in rotation.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: Strictly sports gamer
I'm mainly a sports gamer, but like you funky_chicken, I also have this ridiculous tendency to buy all of the latest non-sports games and then proceed to watch them collect dust while I keep the sports games in rotation. It is a ridiculous waste of money and I'm beginning to reign it in now ... until resident Evil 5 comes out. I'll probably buy it and let it sit too.
Right now I have Fallout 3 and Fable II both sitting unopened, both bought on midnight launch. I have GTA IV sitting around and I've probably put 3 hours into it total and paid full price. I have Mass Effect sitting unfinished and forgotten. I have Condemned 2 sitting unopened (although I got it for $30). Oblivion was never given a fair shake. Godfather is half finished. I still have other games on backlog to star/finish.
I've also recently began to repurchase my favorite Xbox sports titles. In the last 6 months I've bought High Heat 2004, MVP College Baseball 2006, All Star Baseball 2003 and 2005, Blitz 20-02, and NFL Fever 2003 and 2004. On top of that I still have MVP Baseball 05, all of the XSN sports games (Links, Inside Drive, Rivals, Top Spin, etc.) and ESPN NFL 2k4, 2k5, NCAA Football 2K3, and a lot of the old ESPN Basketball 2k, College Hoops 2k, and Hockey 2k games.
Edit: I forgot, I have Dead Space sitting on my shelf still in the shrink wrap as well.Favorite Sports Teams

NBA - Charlotte Hornets
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
College Basketball - Wake Forest
NCAA Football - Appalachian StateComment

Re: Strictly sports gamer
I'm mostly a sports gamer myself mainly because I suck at non sports games. That's not to say I don't play any non-sports games as I often rent them. I do have GTA IV in my possession and the Lost game which sadly killed my X360.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Strictly sports gamer
I play all the major sports games, but honestly I don't play franchises like I used to. I'm more of a non-sports gamer, but still enjoy sports games. I just don't play season after season of NCAA or Madden now, I'll just play once in a while when I get in the mood.
I don't know if I'm outgrowing sports games, they just end up more frustrating for me now so I don't give them as much time as I used to. Some of the games (NCAA this year) more piss me off than let me have fun. I don't play games to get mad at the game and feel pissed off.Comment
