Yeah

I had a voice teacher when I was a kid but he did the choral type stuff so the hardest adjustment to make was to teach myself not to do that as I got more into rock type stuff and sound more aggressive and imperfect than angelic. The voice lessons did make my range pretty big though. Eventually I might just try to find a rock style voice teacher though

That's why I stopped going to my voice teacher. I felt in a way, that I was getting "too good" at my technique, thus leaving me with no style or emotion in my singing voice. On my own, I started shaping my own voice to my liking, trying to emulate emotions and throwing in a hint of my favorite artists.

The best piece of advice that a producer in New York told me was that a unique voice will get you a million times farther, than a perfectly trained voice.

Well, it's only on our cables, no other national channel or something. They actually started airing it on one of the national channels but 2 years ago the cables got it. And it's only on Saturdays, we don't have it on Tuesdays like you do.

BTW You guys have it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (after the auditions are done), right? Here they air it on Saturday - one after another (the 2 parts back2back). At least that's the way it was last year.
