Do you know, or have you met anyone who thinks they know about videogames but doesn't

I am just so irked right now. I just got into an argument with someone over whether I have a BenQ drive or Samsung on my 360. I am not trying to sound arrogant, but I have forgot more about video games than most people will ever know. I know the difference between a BenQ drive and a Samsung drive.

Also a guy that I worked with tried to tell me that MLB the Show is on the 360. I am like no, its not. He freakin argued with me until I just said fine you're right. Unreal.

Oh and just to add to this. I was asking a guy at a video game exchange near me about turn based RPG's on the 360, and I mentioned Final Fantasy, and he said "the FF games aren't turn based". I just said ok, and walked away. lol

I don't know if I have a BenQ or Samsung drive on my 360...and I've been playing games since I was five.

Don't get me wrong. I am not putting down anyone who doesn't know that stuff. I am just saying I hate when people think they know that kind of stuff, but they don't.

        Any Gamestop employee.

It's a pet peeve of mine as well. I remember when my resident said earlier this Fall, "I can't wait until Guitar Hero 4 (yes, he said 4, not World Tour) comes out so I can actually play guitar and drums where they come at me as... (wait for it)... CIRCLES!" as he was referring to his dislike to the Rock Band look.

I just kind of gave him the stare, rather than going for the "Your comment was wrong on so many levels." First of all, just asking you guys... what the **** did he mean? How is it that circles are better than rectangles? I really don't know.

I guess its just personal preference with the circle thing. Not sure how that would bother anyone though. Who knows.

I have also heard it called GH 4. I am like which GH you talking about??? Aerosmith??

And I can totally understand it being called 'Guitar Hero 4'.

Sure there are ignorami about videogames, and granted, I know enough to not be suckered in by store clerks and fanboys. However, to quote my own aggravation (the use of "we" in sports) you learn to just let things roll off your back, however annoying and blasted stupid it sounds to your ears.

It depends on the Gamestop. My Gamestop isn't too bad. The guys in there actually know about the games and seem to be pretty unbiased, never shoving certain products down my throat.

I had one friend that was like that, but thankfully, he never tried to argue with me. He was just completely lost when it came to video games, though he would play them.

I still remember till this day the discussion I had with him trying to explain that the simulation game Out of the Park Baseball was not a fantasy baseball website. Till this day I'm not convinced he gets it.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Yes. Yes, every time I venture into the Madden forum I feel like I am highly qualified to answer this question.

That's not what I meant, but thanks for the insult.

Let me try to explain this better. It pisses me off when someone THINKS they know everything about video games and they don't I don't mean my mom walking in the room and not knowing I am playing PS3 or 360. I mean when someone acts, and tries to show you they know what they are talking about and simply don't. Case in point: An old co-worker arguing with me, trying to say that MLB The Show is available for the Xbox 360 no matter how many times I say it isn't and even explain to him that it is a Sony exclusive, yet he still insists I am wrong.

Are you on speaking terms with him anymore? I don't mean because of this incident, but because you two are no longer colleagues. I would love for you to forward him some documentation of the fact that the game is PlayStation only. Make sure you bring a camera so you can put the picture on Failblog.

Many, many times have I met people like this. You try tell them that they are wrong, then you give proof and they still don't believe you. Many people on youtube, and other forums are just so thick headed and are wrong 95% of the time.

My biggest irks with these people
                              1. They are a fanboy of one system without playing both and giving both a chance. I am a proud owner of both a 360 and a PS3.
                              2. Telling me some games are exclusive when they are not and vice-versa.
                              3. They don't try to listen when you tell them that they are wrong.
I mean I don't expect everybody to know about videogames and sports as much as I do, but heck I still can't believe that there are so many people out there that are clueless, but yet act like they know what they're talking about. Oh well...
