People on our left are an older couple, very nice people. The guy across the street is an annoying Alabama fan. We don't know anyone else.

Re: Do you get along well with your neighbours?
My fiancee and I have a house that we purchased in September - I haven't moved in yet because we're not married. I go on weekends most of the time. I live in my apartment on weekedays (we live about 40 mins from each other).
In the house, our neighbors are all really cool so far. Across the street is this older couple. Our snowblower came from my parents and my dad lent it out, and consequently it needs some parts. We had a foot of snow dumped on MI a few weeks ago and the old couple's son came over and helped me with his snowblower. That was cool. The neighbor next door is nice and friendly and told us all about our house. The people next to him the dad is a volunteer firefighter, so that is cool, faster response :P
In my apartment, it is a different story. For the most part, my 2.5 years here have been awesome. I never hear other people, no troubles at all. About 4 months ago someone moved in above me (i'm on the basement floor). I'll wake up at about 3 am and they're playing their stereo as loud as possible, and it is R&B so it shakes the whole building. At first I thought maybe the painters had painted the apartment and left their radio on, that is how long they play their music. Just constant 24/7 music and tv right above my bedroom. Pisses me off so badly that people can be that inconsiderate. I told the apartment office about them, because I'll be damned if I'm going to talk to this person face to face and find my tires slashed the next day.
I also have walked by their door many times to hear them yelling at each other all the time and swearing in front of their kids (who are crying). Awful stuff. Once I get confirmation that the apartment office has talked to them I'll call the cops if I get woken up one more time (I'm talking about after 11 pm - normal hours for a normal adult person, not like some grandma going to bed at 8 or something).
It just boggles my mind how people can be so inconsiderate.Proud member of the OS Bills Backers.

Re: Do you get along well with your neighbours?
Woman to our right is nice but doesnt shut up and thinks she knows anything and everything.
Family to our right has 5 kids- normal and nice. We mainly talk to them and their kids come over regularly to play with our dogs.
Elderly couple across the street are the only pain. They make you feel uncomfortable with their religious talk. Also they give off the vibe that everyone owes them their time/help regardless of what you're doing. They fit the profile of the typical snob who wants everything free despite being able to pay for it- they own multiple houses in pricey suburbs of CO, CA and Hawaii.
Oh I almost forgot the hell'ish people behind us with their 2 Great Danes in the tiny yard. Not only do they play music thumping late at night but their dogs howl endlessly during the day due to boredom. Recently they finally put collars on the dogs so they've stopped but it'll start back up once the batteries wear out. They're so lazy that they have an extra foot of chicken wire on their fence instead of cutting the remaining off. The mistakes they've made crack me up- having 30 people walk on the grass that was put down that very day and placing a mammoth fire pit on a day old concrete slab.Last edited by av7; 01-13-2009, 03:32 PM.Aaron

Re: Do you get along well with your neighbours?
Now, the people on my left, I'm convinced are running a cult, and he's OBSESSED with snowblowing his driveway. Saturday, I snowblowed twice, he did it 8 times!! EIGHT! And Sunday (mind you, he never left all day) he got up to snowblow at 6 AM. I almost went out and stuffed him in the snowblower.
The people behind me, lady to the left has 2 dogs and is annoying as S. The one to the right, is a vegetarian who won't cut his grass because it's harming nature. I am not kidding. He had a pack of skunks living under his shed that he thought was "cute". I wanted to take a shotgun to them but the wife vetoed it.
Across the street from my house is a guy similar to my left. Except, with mowing his lawn. Mows his yard daily, on Saturday's, he mows it twice.Comment

Re: Do you get along well with your neighbours?
All of mine are really nice and never bother me except for one.
The house is right next door to me and it's starting to creep the hell out of me. First, let me preface by saying that my neighborhood is gated, no back exit, very secure. The aforementioned neighbor has different cars seeming to show up at different times, doesn't sound to weird, but when you see Mercedes showing up at 2 am and leaving at 6 am every once in a while I start to question. Some of the cars there are beat up and old (I don't want to sound snobby or anything, but most people in my neighborhood have decently well maintained cars). We don't know what the property owner does for a living, she has told my mom more several stories. I always see questionable folk at the house and once my mom was outside putting up Christmas lights and there was some guy outside looking all over the grass with a flashlight, but he would leave immediately whenever she would go outside. Tonight I saw two men walking around with flashlights and one just squating at one spot for a while and I couldn't figure out what he was doing.
They have never really messed with me and if they were into drugs I think they could care less about us, but it just creeps me out. We do make sure our alarm is set for sure now, though.
Oh, and one more important detail. It is mostly just me, my sister, and my mom during the week because my dad travels a lot with his job, that is why it is really concerning me. I don't want anything bad to happen.WUSTLComment

I'm not ruling out that she might be running a prostitution ring. Maybe prostitution and drugs. It is a women that owns the house, and at times I have seen a woman or two living there for a little while. The men change regularly. It's really a pretty weird situation.WUSTLComment
