What are you doing with your tax return?

So it came up in the Off Topic thread, and I'm curious as to what everyone is looking to do.

I'm hoping I get close to 2,000 back. If I get that much I am either redoing my bedroom (new TV, surround sound, futon and maybe a new entertainment center) or I might think of going somewhere for a vacation. Only thing is the other person needs an equal if not more amount of money.

    So what about everyone else?
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Save your money. We are headed for dark days, and it's no time to be throwing it away by buying entertainment items.

I guarantee I'll be trolled, but I (well, more like those who have been predicting this economic collapse for years) suggest you stock up on canned foods and non-perishable items.

I would not spend your money on re-modeling your home, buying new electronics, vacations, a pool, et al. If the experts (who have not been wrong yet) are correct, the necessities are what you're going to need...not a new entertainment room.

I actually agree with you this time.

        Very good advice.

So does that mean you're going to stop smoking weed

(this is a playful joke, not trying to start arguement)

Remember to take into account the rebate you got in early 2008. That money will be coming out of your return.

Way to hijack my thread, haha.

I think everyone deserves something for themselves. If your not hurting your future financial situation.

And we wonder why we can't get the economy jump started. Let's all hunker down and not spend money, that will make things all better.

                  What's next, bomb shelters?

I think most people forget that money, it was an advance.

Of course they did. Most people you talk to think the money came from some magical money tree. My family could have easily pulled in a $2000 plus return this year, but we'll be looking at around $500 or so.

Replacing my scooter that got stolen the day after Thanksgiving. It saved me so much money on parking and gas... I hate not having one available to use. Found some online shipped for ~$800, so I should have enough of a return to pick one up.

If we ever got to the point to where all agriculture shut down (which we won't) then we have plenty of food stored for problems just like this.
