Actually, I was thinking about it. I'm going on a college tour of the Northeast this summer and I'm going to tour Maryland.

I just threw out a couple schools I really liked because of friends/family ties and what I've heard of them. I better focus on my grades and test scores, though. I'm gonna need to if I want to get into any of those schools.

I'm 4.5 months away from graduating in an Advertising degree, and I still have no idea if it's something I want to do.

Just a question for some of you guys soon to graduate/recent graduates. Are you guys having much trouble getting jobs or are they there. I know it isn't easy to find a job nowadays, just wondering if that is translating to you guys, too. And if it is, to what extent?

If I had one piece of advice, it'd be that unless you're going into politics or criminal justice, stay as far away from Maryland as you can.

And stay away from the Metro. Tourists are just bad at riding the Metro. I think it's the inferior breeding.

Are you implying Maryland is not a good school to go to for any other major? The Kinesiology department is number 2 in the nation, and many other ones are ranked pretty high. The school itself is very prestigious for a public University.

No. I'm implying that you can get better at other public schools.

I think the Crim program is #1, and the Government program is the closest to DC.

The campus, people, area, and faculty here are horrible.

Area is crime ridden due to being in PG county and near DC. Have no complaints about the campus. I don't know what personal experiences you have had, but the faculty is not horrible. A school is not rated as highly as UMD for having poor faculty. The kinesiology department (my major) has perhaps the finest group of faculty in the nation. For my honors thesis project I am working with one of the leading professors of computational neuroscience in a laboratory that houses cutting edge technology, and could not be happier with the experience I am recieving. I know that the faculty in other departments is reputable as well. As for the people, I could not be happier. I don't know what you are basing that on either.

Just have to hope you find the right gig. My cousin makes enough to live in 1 bedroom $1200 a month apartments right next to the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Graduated just 3-4 years ago too. She worked with a firm who was in charge of advertising for Harrahs Casino and other Casinos
