So now the UAE, Southern Mississippi, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Seattle, Paris, London, and many more areas have seen more snow than me. WTF???

    Snow in Paris too:

And, yes, I'm obsessed with all kinds of weather, whether that be thunderstorms, snow, hurricanes, ect.

You remind me of the guy that works for Environment Canada named David Philips. He's obsessed with the weather too and has put out weather calendars and done books on strange weather.

Anyways, what a crazy winter this year...and they say we're in the grips of global warming. Hard to tell with this craziness going on.

...which would normally cause more extreme winters in mild climates and less-extreme winters in harsh climates (it's been in the 60's here in CO for most of January... February is traditionally our coldest month and it's 50 today, going up to mid-60's later in the week). It's pretty obvious what's happening here.

I could have pulled that letter from a 100+ different right, left or neutral sites, What difference does it make?

              Shockingly (or not) No response.

So -40 windchills isn't extreme? Because we had those about two weeks ago in Wisconsin, which I wouldn't consider a mild climate.

It's warm there in Colorado because you all have a ridge that's been over the entire west for the past few weeks. That's why it's so warm. Us over here on the east coast are freezing our butts off under a trough that's brought extremely cold air that's usually in Alaska down here for the past few weeks. I haven't seen a winter this cold here in years.

Though indications are pointing towards the ridge finally moving over here into the East, bringing our temperatures up and your temperatures down. It appears that the cold should return to here in mid-February and could be a very active time for storms (maybe meaning we actually get some snow, LOL), though that's a bit far out to say anything definite.

The pattern we've been under has been great for cold weather, but not big for big storm systems since the jet stream is bringing storms down from Canada, where it's hard to tap into the Gulf moisture. We've had the cold around since early January, but it's been so dry...

It definitely seems like there has been odd weather everywhere this year.

Strange things going on in the Pacific Northwest too, everyone knows it's rains all winter here, but we've had almost no rain at all since November. Another rainless forecast this week as well. A lot of sunny and pleasant days.

I think that has a lot to do with the ridge that's been parked over there out West. You all aren't getting a lot of those storms that normally come off the Pacific Ocean.

I mean, I'm no meteorologist, but I have a decent amateur understating of the weather, and I think that's mainly what's causing it.

That little pesky jet stream has been causing you all to be hot and me to be cold and dry!

I think it is La Nina, but I don't know what it does to the west, but the south stays warm.
