    Man enough with everything being "the greatest of all time"

    Man, am I tired of everything\player being given this distinction......Thing is, is this goes BEYOND sports, but thats really what im focused on here..

    It seems like I cant go a game or broadcast on any network\ radio show w\o hearing it. Ive even sat through 3 Spurs games this year that were considered the best game of the year each time lol. Ive heard it seemingly 100 times from yesterday to today regarding the Super Bowl. Even every Monday on WWE is proclaimed to be the best Raw yet in some aspect by the comentators...

    I mean thats entertainment, but you get the point. Maybe thats it though, maybe hearing something is the greatest strikes chords w\ some. The term is starting to lose its value IMO.

      Well that was one of the best Super Bowls ever played. What more could you want than a TD drive to win it with :35 seconds to go.

          No, this wasnt a shot at your thread in the football forum Nole...lol

          EDIT: Yeah this really wasnt about the SB, there were alot of "one of the greatest of" moments last night...But even so...there were some examples there during the broadcast. Seems like your taking away from the term by donning something greatest moments after it happening.

              Yeah, I think last night's game was justified in being called one of the greatest.

              Now calling everything else the greatest of all time and such I agree with you. It seems every generation likes to pump up its current output as the greatest ever when really you have to wait til everything is all said and done.

                                      I see your point, and I agree it's silly. It's just as stupid as the whole predicting who's going to win games.

                                      However, it's fun - and it gives people something to voice their adamant opinion about. I see no harm in it.

                                              I do. In general, people are stupid... and their opinions are usually worse.

                                              We get dumber for reading most of what is posted... thus, it's very harmful!

                                                  I think the best example is the Slam Dunk Contest. Every year no matter how mediocre it is, who is commentating manages to say that it's the best in some aspect whether it's the most competitive (Andre vs. Nate) or the most entertaining (Dwight Superman), when it's really not.
