Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Yeah, there's a ton downtown. I actually have never gone on a brewery tour, even though there are like 4 of them within 2 miles of my work. Dunno what I'm waiting for haha..
DaveCo Liquors is the biggest liquor store in the world too, so if you're mobile, you might want to check that out... they have almost literally everything.
Think I'm gonna buy a nice thick porkchop and do up another good-*** dinner tonight to go along with this beer. I feel like Homer when they had Laddie and he started wearing a tie at the breakfast table... can't fail to impress this beer haha.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

That is a great beer, high ABV too. Had it on tap once and loved it. I'll have to have some again when I get back into a darker beer mood.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Whoo, holy ****... I think my tastebuds just evolved in the last 6 months or something, because I'm LOVING this Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. It has an aftertaste, but it's not skunky at all, and it's just so snappy and smells great. 9.0% ABV doesn't hurt either. Eating an onion, mushroom, and goat cheese tart I made and drinking my 2nd beer... good times.
I know what you hop heads are on about now. This was a beautiful beer:

I also pay exactly 10.99 a 4 pack here in Cleveland. I actually looked into it and that is the suggested retail price, so it is more than likely that price everywhere besides Delaware.Comment

Hmm, I'll have to look for that Great Divide DIPA... I should definitely be able to find that, assuming it wasn't some limited edition thing. Hell, I could go harass the brewmaster myself after work.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I had Ommegang Hennepin the other day on my way to my plate at the Flying Saucer (only 24 beers away from 200) and it was delicious.

Delicious. I love a good Belgian. You would also like Duvel if you like Hennepin. Also, St. Bernardus.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Not exactly "great tasting" but I picked up some High Life on a whim while I was at Wal-Mart last night, and it wasn't too bad. Definitely my new cheap beer/macrobrew of choice (not that it has a lot of competition, Bud Light was the only other macro I've had).
I also had a Lakefront Brewery Fuel Cafe coffee stout last night, which I found to be pretty meh unfortunately.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I finally gave in and bought myself a 4 pack of Duvel (for $12.99 at a local imports store) to see what all the fuss was about:
Look: It poured a very golden yellowish color with a hint of cloudiness found in some of the wheat beers I drink. It almost looks like champagne. This beer leaves behind a plethora of big, white bubbles after every sip giving it quite a bit of lacing. 4.5/5
Smell: Fruity, yet spicy aroma with notes of apples and nutmeg and just a hint of an "alcohol" smell. 4/5
Taste: Very unique and balanced taste. It starts out fruity and gets spicy and ends with the mixture of the two. Aftertaste is mild and quite pleasant. 4.5/5
Feel: It feels very refreshing in the mouth for a beer with an 8.5% ABV label. Crisp and and full of bubbles. 4/5
Drink: Insanely easy to drink considering its strength. This is simply just an excellently crafted beer and the best Belgian Strong Ale I have ever had. 5/5
Final grade: 4.4/5 or a solid A.
Serving type: bottle poured into a wine glass in lieu of a snifter. Picture above.Last edited by 55; 07-29-2009, 10:09 PM.Comment
