Back messing with OKC. Just been messaging girls "Why haven't we met yet?". Got 3 replies within a minute. We'll see if I've found a hidden gem or fool's gold. Sometimes you just gotta cut to the chase though.

Things are basically done with my current "girlfriend".
We have dated since February, but she's leaving for basic training and the Navy later this month and I'm a pretty realistic person. She's awesome and It sucks that we will have to break up, but it is what it is.
I leave in November and I'll be gone in about the time she goes to A school. I'm sure we will still talk and keep in touch and junk, but being a couple long distance likely won't work. I would rather us split, be friends while things are going smooth, keep in touch, and you never know. One day down the road, when things are in order it might come back around. It sucks, but at the same time I try to look at it this way: We never would have met in the first place if it wasn't for the Navy.
Regardless of what happens, I met a really awesome person and we have had a lot of fun.
Anyways, enough about my bull ****, I'm thinking about setting up a preliminary profile somewhere. I don't want to just be bored all the time, waiting to ship out in November and I think the best thing to do to keep from getting hung up on one girl is to try and meet some other people.
I wonder if I should even bother mentioning the fact I'm in The Navy and won't be around much come November. It could help drive home the fact I'm not looking for anything really serious right now, but on the other hand it might turn a lot of girls away. Any thoughts or suggestions about that ?
I have a current job so I could always tmention that instead and bring up my future if it comes up on a date or something.
I'm in a similar situation. My girlfriend that I met on OKC accepted a job in another state. We always knew it would happen but we kept it moving forward because we enjoyed each other's company.
She wants me to go with her. I can't do that. Not for a woman. And there's nothing out there for me close to what I want to accomplish in life.
Making it worse, she told me she loves me. I...had no real response. Because I don't and I told her that I didn't feel that way. I thought our agreement was to not get caught up but I guess you can't always control feelings.
She's a great person. I'm not completely ruling out possibly moving where she is someday - if the right opportunities presented themselves - but as of now I'm preparing for the relationship to end within a month.
Its a bit weird to some people who ask us why we continue if we know it will end, but I think we are just trying to enjoy whatever time we have left.

To follow up on this I'm getting more replies than I ever got in the past. Have had more contacts and conversations, a ton more visitors too. It's a lame pickup line I know, but sometimes simple and stupid wins over complicated.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
I've used Eharmony for a couple years. I have had 7 dates off it, I am usually pretty picky and numerous other girls have traded texts with me but I decided not to pursue a meeting. I have found there are certain "red flags" that pop up here or there that, in my experience, signify some sort of weirdness/craziness that I just ain't got time for. Not to say that I am not crazy and/or weird myself, but hey, your boy has high hopes.
2 of the dates went really well, we both were feeling it immediately and ended up dating for 3 months in one case, 7 in the other. 2 went bad in the sense that I wasn't feeling it, 3 went bad in the sense that she clearly wasn't feeling it. Those are the worst. One girl was just brutal and extremely condescending for the 1.5 hours we "hung out." This was about a year ago, last September. That one put me in "hibernation," I stopped logging in and contemplated cancelling my account.
Right now I am more focused on getting in shape ASAP so I don't show up looking like a fat slob (my most recent pick is from last August when I was still in good shape), but I still have my account and have been logging in and checking out some matches the last couple days.
I am not sure I think eharm is worth the money, but, I do like feeling "secure" about the whole thing. I have heard match.com is good but is more like a "meat market." It was a girl who told me that, so maybe it's different for guys?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
I thought about eHarmoney. Just didn't see what they could do that warranted it being so expensive when OKC is free. It's not hard to weed out people trolling or not taking it seriously which is the only benefit I see to paying $50 a month.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
My original sub was the deal where you pay for a whole year in 3 payments. I did not renew that one, and they offered me what I think is 19.99 a month, month-to-month deal. I've been on that one for the last 10 months or so. I think that's what it is, maybe its 25. Either way, it's still more than others."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

So I messaged this girl saying whats up and such and she messages me back, "Nothing much, do you smoke? I need some."
Like wtf? Number 1 even if I do smoke what makes you think that I would admit that to you without even knowing you. Let alone get you some if I had any? Lol. Just thought I share this humorous little story.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os
