Match can be cool.

However, unless it has changed be aware that Match does not tell you who is a paid member.

And only paid members can send messages to each other. So you could message a girl and unless she pays for the service, she is not getting back to you.

Makes sense I guess but also seems stupid on a site that lets you sign up for free and doesn't require payment.

I mean honestly, how many people are going to see a random message and say, "Hey, I really should shell out $20 dollars to see what it says."

Most likely it's going to be on their terms. I know if I saw a notification for one I'd instantly think, oh great, another fat chick with some courage and disregard.

Had a couple of dates with some girls off of OKC and PoF and all of them were very, very disappointing........especially the chick who turned out to be a hick (you get that sometimes in this part of the country) who dropped about 3 racial slurs til I just had to get up and walk out. But today, out of the blue I arranged a lunch date (the other dates were at expensive resturants and I didnt want to contribute 100$ in drinks and meal for nothing again) with this girl that had pm'd me a few times. Anyway, she was drop dead hot and drove a brand new 4runner and owns her own home.....turns out that she is a ICU RN. Didnt really eat a lot of my lunch because we spent the entire time talking and it really clicked. Definitely going out again and this time to something maybe a little more formal and in the evening.

Some of you guys keep talking about "fat chicks" as if you are not without flaws. Personally I think it's pretty shallow. My girlfriend is about 40 pounds overweight and if I'd ruled her out for being a "fat chick" then I'd have missed out on a lot.

Just saying..maybe you guys should be a little more about the overall package and a little less about a woman's body. Unless you're just looking for casual sex of course, then by all means feel free to judge away LoL..

I just kind of cringe when I see those sorts of statements because I feel like a lot of people think that way and they miss out on a lot of great people, possibly the love of your life, for just going by initial surface appearances...

P.S. I'm not talking about huge, fat as hell women who can hardly walk, you do have to have an attraction to the person, but don't just dismiss a girl who is somewhat overweight as "another desperate fat chick"...

The bolded part above is what I call healthy.

I hardly ever say "fat" because its a harsh word however the problem that I had with the girl that was big that I went to see was that she basically lied about herself. I know I am not the smallest person in the world however I take care of myself and want a woman that does as well.

As for these dating sites, I have sent so many messages out to all sorts of woman of varying sizes/races and have yet to get a hit. I am seriously debating match since that where my friends mom and others I know around here have found people there. I just hate paid subscriptions since it usually a hassle to cancel them and the auto renewal BS.

I've dated "healthy" girls almost exclusively. Mainly because that's what I can get, seeing as I'm healthy also, but they've all been great girlfriends, just not "the one".

Hey guys, after re-reading the post maybe I came across as overly harsh.

I guess my point is just go with what attracts you but try to remember looks are only a part of that equation. If you feel any attraction at all to a woman try not to demand that she be held to the barbie doll standard. Attraction is something that can increase or decrease based on knowing the person, beyond physical attraction that is initial.

I am 43 and was single for years before I found the right one. I didn't drop my standards, slightly overweight and "curvy" women are actually what I like, but I also learned that as a younger guy I probably passed on a lot of women for stupid, superficial "Jerry Seinfeld" type reasons.

Quit looking for the perfect woman as you're not the perfect guy I guess is my point...

Just hoping to impart some life lessons.

Everyone is attracted to different things, and whether in person or on a dating site physical attraction comes before anything emotional for the most part. I'm fine with girls who have a few extra pounds , hell the girl I'm dating now falls in that category. There comes a point though that if they are big enough, no matter how awesome their personality is, I'll have no desire to see them without their clothes on.

Also FWIW it seems most of the people in this thread are younger so they may just be looking to date around rather than find "the one", myself included.

I would like to know when the definition of "curvy" changed from hourglass shaped girls to fat girls though.

For me I'm just not attracted to heavier women. Its not only about the looks, but its about the lifestyle as well. I try to eat healthy and exercise regularly and I want my partner to at least consider those things or else it won't work for me. I don't have a problem with a girl being bigger than me, but I want somebody who knows how to take care of their body.
