Re: anybuddy in here wear contacts
I did use a different solution once when I was out and it made my eyes burn, but I can't remember which one it was.
My eyes get horizontal lines running through the pupils after a long day. I have astigmatism though so I can't get the ones you sleep in. I tried the acuvue ones, but they were too thin and don't fit/stay in place.Comment

Umm ... what in the world are you talking about? Do you have some special mixture that you are buying? I don't think he was putting his contacts in the same solution that the other person was. You can use any OTC solution, you don't need any special solution unless you have hard lenses.

Re: anybuddy in here wear contacts
Did you ever try Clear Care solution? I was having a lot of problems with irritation and my new eye doctor recommended it. It's a hydrogen peroxide based solution that requires a special case which contains a disc that reacts with the solution overnight to disinfect the lenses, leaving them soaking in water by morning (H2O2 - O = H2O for the non-chemists out there).
It's a little more expensive than Opti-Free or Bausch & Lomb, but not much. The case comes with the solution as well. Since it doesn't have all the chemicals that the "no-rub" solutions contain (this is what often causes the irritation), it's much easier on the eyes. You just can't allow the solution to come in contact with your eyes -- the lenses must soak for at least 6 hours to neutralize the H2O2. It sounds weird, but believe me, it works. I'll never go back to the other stuff...Comment

Re: anybuddy in here wear contacts
Nope. My just make my eyes feel "heavy" in the evening. My opto also told me extended wear or not, you should never sleep with contacts, just take 'em out at night, and back in in the A.M.
I've got veins in my eyes for sleeping with them for many years, it is reversible though, and I no longer do it.
The vessels in your cornea are irreversible. What happens is the blood drains out of them and become "ghost vessels". They will always be there, I see them everyday on patients.
Also, more CL materials dry out faster than others, so you might need to change brands.Comment

Re: anybuddy in here wear contacts
Used to. Then I had my eyes cut twice because of them. The second time my doctor advised I stopped wearing them or risk permanent damage. So, I stopped.
It seemed that no matter how much oxygen they supposedly allowed into the eye, I still wasn't getting much at all and it caused the lens to dry over my eye, and when I blinked, the dryness would cut my eyelids and eventually leave a scratch on my eye. Weird but true."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: anybuddy in here wear contacts
Manny, have you tried changing solutions? I bought a generic brand from Target once and constantly had issues with my eyes burning. Come to find out, it was the solution I was using.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
