What's a 49 year old woman doing texting?

    That's the biggest issue here...

6 years is a joke, especially considering I doubt she'll serve more than 2 of them.

Text messaging might be good for middle schoolers who want an alternative to passing notes in class.
I hate people like you with that kind of mindset.

Why are you on the internet? Middle school and elementary kids use the internet also so lets put you in that bracket.

I like texting because it's informal.

          1. If the person is doing something, it doesn't bother them. If you get a text, you can respond back in a few hours, text them right back, or call them. If they're working, out at dinner, or doing something, they don't have to drop everything just to shoot the ****.

          2. You don't have to get into a full conversation. If all I want to know is a specific item (when will you be back, when is the game on, do you have any peanut butter), a text is better than engaging someone in a conversation, especially with females.

          3. You can do it in places that you can't talk (movies, work, school) where talking annoys people (DMV, grocery story), or where it's really loud (the disco).

            Texting is great.

Texting and driving is stupid. However I do it all the time and yea it affects my driving pretty bad. Also the gf just got in a wreck two weeks ago, she said she was sending me a text when it happened.

Nobody got hurt...but her car was messed up. She rearended somebody at a light.

Probably because it wasn't intentional or pre-meditated. They can't charge her with first-degree homicide. It was probably classified as vehicular manslaughter.

I am guessing you are old because that is a such a stupid statement(i see it often from old people) for all the reasons Cebby mentioned.

Who wants to have to drop everything they are doing, leave the room if you are with someone to "shoot the ****". Yes I would call someone if it was a big deal about something or they needed advice, but if you are trying to organize a trip to the movies with 3 other friends it would take 10 times as long to have to call each person and see what they wanted to do. Why not just send a text to all 3? Then you can reply back instead of having to call each person individually. The benefits of texting far out weigh the negatives of responsible texting.

I'm actually a 17 year old high school student that only uses text messages when it's absolutely necessary. I'm sorry, but I just don't think it's all that great, and this instance just further shows that people with their heads buried in their phones are a danger to society.

I'm not saying that texting makes you a bad person - trust me, esentially every one of my friends does it. I just think it's a bad habit that leads to poor social skills, bad grammar, and possibly even accidents like this.

Sure, it's occasionally useful, but people like this lady that couldn't pull her head up from her text to look at the road are clear proof that over-dependance on texting is NOT a good thing...

Edit: Cebby made some good points, and those are situations when texting is fine. My comment was mostly addressed at this specific lady and people like her - don't jump all over me.

Doesn't matter. She was negligent which caused the wreck. Joe Shmoe can get busted with some dope and do more time than this stupid bitch will. If I was the family of the woman who was killed, I'd sue the driver so harshly, 6 years of jail time would be the least of her worries.

In sports the 30's can be old...we are on a sports gaming website. See the connections here?

Well I hate texting in general. Though yes, I agree... my little sister, who is now 15, did not need to be texting when she was 12 years old. She's just racking up bills.

I hate it too. I may send maybe 5 texts per month and that is to my wife and only when I don't want to talk to her and I have something quick to say.

I'm a huge fan of this stupid broad getting locked up. I can't count how many times I've almost gotten into accidents because of some ignorant wench flapping her lips on the cell-phone. And when her attention is at her most compromised, THAT'S when the whore decides that it would be a fabulous time to change lanes.

I have the same views on texting as my man Heelfan. I'm not a texting type of dude. Although I might use it more because a lot of my friends are big talkers, and I don't like being glued to the phone for 20 minutes at a time.
