I have the same views on texting as my man Heelfan. I'm not a texting type of dude. Although I might use it more because a lot of my friends are big talkers, and I don't like being glued to the phone for 20 minutes at a time.
Same here. I'd much rather talk to someone in person.

Drove in to work today...saw a guy on the road reading the newspaper...and it wasn't like he had it folded into a smalle section (not that it makes a difference), but he had it spread wide open-half leaning against the dash, half on his lap all while driving in traffic.

I'm not saying that texting makes you a bad person - trust me, esentially every one of my friends does it. I just think it's a bad habit that leads to poor social skills, bad grammar, and possibly even accidents like this.

Sure, it's occasionally useful, but people like this lady that couldn't pull her head up from her text to look at the road are clear proof that over-dependance on texting is NOT a good thing...

Edit: Cebby made some good points, and those are situations when texting is fine. My comment was mostly addressed at this specific lady and people like her - don't jump all over me.
        I agree

I know in Ontario they were at least looking into , I'm not sure if they are, but they were going to make talking on a cell phone while driving illegal.

She just could have easily looked down to change the radio station and hit the cars too.

I don't see how it creates poor social skills. I know some people have serious problems and will text people sitting across from them, but it's not like I don't know how to interact with people when I see them.

Oooohhhh the horrors of texting. I am planning a trip to the bowling alley tomorrow night, I hope all of my social skills are not voided because I don't want to call 5 people individually and play phone tag all night trying to see what everyone wants to do.

It was like that in NY. You couldn't be on the phone without a hands-free device, or else you got a ticket.
